Former Abu Ghraib Intel Staffer Says Army Concealed Involvement in Abuse Scandal

http://abcnews.go.com/sections/WNT/Investigation/abu_ghraib_cover_up_040518-1.html

May 18, 2004 — Dozens of soldiers — other than the seven military police reservists who have been charged — were involved in the abuse at Iraq's Abu Ghraib prison, and there is an effort under way in the Army to hide it, a key witness in the investigation told ABCNEWS.

"There's definitely a cover-up," the witness, Sgt. Samuel Provance, said. "People are either telling themselves or being told to be quiet."

Damn Imagine that?

Call this AUBUGATE. HA HA!!!

I think it's funny and ironic how much certain people love that this happened...as well, they love watching the bodies pile up...

No one wanted this to happen because there was absolutley no need what soever to invade Iraq.

Cover-up?

Why not also disclose the US GOVERNMENT's treatment of 9/11 suspects here in the US?

No lawyers

No contacts with families

No rights

Solitary confinement.

No justice

No trials

Where's the scandals about these muslims who were GUILTY until proven innocent. Which flies DIRECTLY against what this country stands for.

It's called the Patriot Act...

Regardless of the need, we are there now. Their is no turning back. I feel that the anti-conflict folks are a step behind. It's just fukking sick to see the glee when people talk about the prison scandal or mounting casualties...

Seriously - I don't care...

Non-uniformed, non-sworn combatants are not entitled to any standards of treatment by the Geneva rules. In World War II, civilian insurgents would have been summarily executed. The way I see it, being forced to wear lingerie on their heads in pretty fucking tame.

The prison "scandal" isn't even an interesting diversion. It's certainly likely that these lower level folks were directed to do the things they did and likely that there was a policy in place to do these things. Now that they have been discovered, it's now a political issue. *yawn*

The US has to push forward and find a near and long term strategy now that we ARE in there. It would be nice to have much fewer casualties, but it's not like they're engaged in a normal "war". Everything is politicized to the point of nausea. They don't want to upset the muslim world by bombing the bejeezers out of a mosque where they're hiding weapons and enemy soldiers. Instead we are playing cat and mouse which is exactly the kinds of thinngs we didn't want to find ourselves engaged in.

I don't see it as a bad thing that people are opposing the operations in Iraq and possibly hastening the closure of it. However, it would be a true tragedy if we left too soon and then had to go back in to restabalize it because things were too rushed. This issue doesn't change no matter who gets elected in Nov.

It's quite a mess to stay or go...we might have to destroy the village in order to save it...

Yup, and in the end what does it really say about the US?

That we are big and stupid...

You're a simple idiot who listens to rush and gets too close to the fence at nascar events. These people were sexually abused by gaurds and at least one person died from starvation.
