With any esterified AAS, the base steroid is the only part that has any effect on the body.
The ester is only there as a time-release mechanism. The longer the ester, the slower the steroid will be absorbed into the bloodestream. Once in the blood, esterase enzymes strip away the ester and leave the base steroid free to do its magic. The base steroid only has about 30 minutes before it is destroyed by the liver.
So, nandrolone decoanate has a long half-life which means it absorbs slowly into the blood. Because of this it will take several weeks to build up to a significant level in the body after you start. AND, it will take several weeks to clear your body after you start. Long esters like this can be injected less frequently but are best suited to longer cycles.
Nandrolone Phenyl Proprionate is a short ester with a corresponding shorter half-life. It can come up to equilibrium in the body in about a week. And it will clear the body much more quickly after the cycle is over. But it needs to be injected at least every other day (EOD). NPP should be used on shorter cycle or when combined with other short ester gear like test proprionate.
The bottom line is that once the ester is stripped from the base, both deca and NPP do exactly the same thing in the body.
