Again sir, Equal Justice Under Law - the foundation of our justice system, means that we do not give in to the bloodthirsty whims of the victims.
It means that we follow a system of established principles, which, as you know are colloquially referred to as "due process".
Surely you believe in due process, yes?

Yes. He should be tried by a jury of his peers in a court of law.
The question here though is, is the death penalty appropriate if he is found guilty of murder in the 1st degree?
I can't think of a time when the death penalty is more appropriate than when murdering a child.

OK good. I thought you gave up on that when you suggested I ask the victims.
Well, I already addressed my feelings on the inappropriateness of the DP in our current system.

In the deterrent sense, it may not show any effect, but this is not the main reason for criminal punishment, justice is. If a murderer is killed, justice is served.
