Anyone else catch this yet? I've watched two episodes. It's on SPIKE, they're showing the first three episodes starting tonight at 9:00 PM EST.

It's interesting but the scenarios are a bit contrived. :)

The first episode was Apache Vs Gladiator

Never heard of the show, looks fucking cool. I would like to see them do an episode on a zulu warrior. They were responsible for inflicting the worst defeat upon a modern army in military history (Batte of Isandlwana 1879).

I watched it a couple weeks ago. The indians act like a bunch of homotards.

I think the one Apache dude seemed kinda geigh.

The Apaches did get pwned by the US cavalry. A gladiator army pwned the Romans...

Oh, it was also funny in the final fight scene they made the gladiator move like an oaf. :)
A gladiator would have been very quick.

I watched a documentary today where they used forensics to determine the diet and training of a gladiator. Interestingly, they found the bones of one that died in his fifties, most died in their twenties. He was the kind that used the trident and net. They actually figured out who he was by name and in his final fight he fought two armored gladiators with shield and gladius, it was rare for non one on one fights but they increased the difficulty as a gladiator became more successful. Basically, he was on a wooden platform with two planks on opposite sides fighting two gladiators. He had the advantage of height but they had numbers. He won and became an instructor at a school, eventually dying of natural causes.

Corny show. Ive only watch some of it because its on right before Ultimate Fighter.

I like the science part but they like apples and oranges match ups.
I would like to see Samurai Vs. 15th Century Knight. Methinks the samurai would get his ass kicked.

It's always going to be apples vs. oranges with this type of analysis. How many times have we seen the perfect profile UFC fighter, NBA/NFL/NHL player get owned by an inferior opponent.

It's all about the entertainment (the science part makes it interesting) :)

(and corny as hell, must use all weapons analyzed in the final scene)

Ninja Vs. Apache would have been more interesting. Similar fighting styles, stealth and no armor. The Gladiator was specialized in close combat with specific match ups even though they had "twists" to make it interesting.
