Daycare is crappy!

Okay, so having my sister be a nanny for my son didn't work out and he has been going to daycare.

So far, I have had to take him to the emergency room once with RSV, and he has been to the pediatricians 4 times this month for things he picked up at daycare. I had to bring him to work with me on Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve because they were closed. I had to bring him to work with me yesterday because they had an influenza breakout at the daycare and kids were puking and having diarrhea when I arrived with him at daycare. I didn't even sit him down. I just turned around and brought him home.

PLUS, they keep using my diapers, wipes etc for ALL the kids in daycare. They must think I'm made of money. I walked in today and caught them red handed using my diapers and wipes to change another little boy.

I sent Devin in with 2 blankets one day and they only put one in his bag to go home. When I asked where the other one was, they said that I only brought one. I described the blanket and they said, "Oh, we sent that one to laundry." Apparently, they were letting another kid use it, and he threw up on it.

I have an ad for a full time nanny but I have gotten crackpot replies to the ad. One person replied and said "I can't pay much money for him, but I'll take him." :worried: What the heck? My kid isn't up for sale.

Oh no. It's sounds like a total nightmare for you. I'm so sorry.

You need to find a service who deals ONLY with nannies. They should be able to hook u up with someone with baby " creds".

I am so glad I never had to experience this kind of nightmare. I feel so bad for you and Devin, HR.

Can't you report that daycare to somebody? Sounds like they have been ripping you off and it is not a safe place for children if they are letting sick children in. My sister's daycare doesn't allow sick kids to come in.

I hear getting a nanny is much better than daycares. They should have time to take better care. I would install hidden camera though after hearing all those crazy stories. Thankfully I never had to worry about daycares or a nanny, but if I did I would have chosen a nanny. You can even have them cook and clean for the right price :)

arent there other daycares in your area ?
i got lucky and found a really good christian daycare/nursery school for my son but i did tours and interviewed lots of prospective facilities. i did this before he was born because i knew lots of the good one have waiting lists.
anyway, the one i chose happened to be really very good. my son went there from 3 months all the way through kindergarten. it was wonderful. i was very lucky.

honestly, there are good ones out there.

It's Kentucky Heather...just set him up in the backyard with some empty beer cans and a couple of toy Nascar cars with no wheels. He'll be fine.

I feel you pretty momma... my and the old grump's kids are waaaaaaaay older than yours but still when we get them, they will need A LOT of supervision (pesky teen-agers LOL). We will need to hire a live in - pointblank.

Luckily the Old Grump will have a lot of flexibility and will be able to be home a lot. But me, I HAVE to be in the office.

We do the best we can with the circumstances we are dealt.

Good luck Ms HR.... just remember to install hidden cameras... no joke.

Problems like this are why I ended up not going to work until my son was in kindergarten.

My vote goes with paying for the services of an agency that will guarantee the applicants qualifications, AND installing cameras.

Family is ... awkward, as you've already discovered.

This was one of the huge factors that made me stay home...I even had a family member babysit and I hated it. I hope everything works out!!

Dood, you need to get little borlly outta there asap. Get you a little 16yr old phillipino nannie. And then send her over here when you don't need her anymore.

there's gotta be another daycare, preferably a christian type, I SHOULD say, one run by a church. I had "Z" in a christian daycare non-church related, cost $650/ mo when he was 0-2, then a Lutheran one when he was 2-5, both were outstanding. They actually taught me how to handel alot of different things as I had never had a child.

have you asked around? shurely you can find a good one.....

Parents that can't miss work will "Tylenol up" their kid to bring the fever down and then take them. If the school calls, they'll be "out of the office" or not answer the cell phone. Sumbitches.....

Just chalk it up to the feminist movement.

look into others places. there is a good one close to my house thats part of the hospital in my area. it was almost like a school for tiny kids

:lmao:

I would, but it's too cold outside.

Don't you love in Kentucky how moms let there kids run around with nothing but a diaper on. EGADS!

Those are all good ideas. I'm still searching for a nanny. This is a small town and there aren't any nanny services that are covering this area that I know of. I am looking into what other daycares here are like. Lots of them are only for low-income families that I don't qualify for.

I'm in Kentucky and I have never seen that. What kind of backwoods place do you live in?

I saw that kind of thing the more south of Louisville I got. I saw some pretty strange stuff.

It's funny that people think all those redneck pics are a joke.

I never been to KY, but met two ladies in the past couple years. One was very well educated, the other was not. Both pretty girls - one conservative one wild as a cat. Definitely left me with a nice impression overall.

Search around... do random drop in's of different daycare's. I was extremely lucky with my children when they were toddlers. I found an in-home sitter and she was great.

I also started looking before my child was born and asked for references and followed up on them. I am sure you will find someone you can trust... hang in there.

Kentucky has the most awesomest wimminz. The country accent alone is worth hanging out with them.

one of was so wild, she scared me. The other was very hot and conservative, but I know she prob. would of been wild if she let loose.

It don't take much...take a girl down to the local pub for a few beers and some corn-holing, and she's yours. KY chicks are the coolest. It's like hanging out with your buddies all night and then all of the sudden throwing down with a screamer.

that's where the name KY jelly came from!

I've seen a couple of studies that indicate that daycare kids, when they enter the school system, have an advantage over home care kids, showing better social development and adapting more quickly to the academic environment.

I think that was in our days; now some of these home schooled for life kids are pretty damn smart.

I always wondered why I was locked in a closet :(

I was locked in the closet during nap time at my Daycare.

They told my mom. She said "Do what you have to do."

True Story!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

OH my! :worried:

PS -- you probably deserved it.

HR, no church run daycare in your area? Here, they are the best.....

Some being the keyword. My bro is homeschooled, and he's a fucking box of rox. I've met his little home school group, and the synapses are just not firing.

Hell yes I did.

I learned valuable life lessons in Day Care.

I am glad I wasn't a spoiled rich kid with a housewife mom or a nanny living in dream world.

Academically, yes; socially, not necessarily.

But that's not what I was talking about. I mean daycare nursery (pre-school) kids. i.e. both parents work (or single working mom...), kid off-loaded at daycare all day, vs. kids with a stay-at-home mom, grandmom, or nanny.

My parents used to lock me in the closet and tell me it was elevator training.

You're probably good at the elevators's now though.

Wow they don't waste time with the brainwashing of the poor things do they.
no it was pretty decent, although they do teach bible stories but i didnt see any harm in that for him from age 0-5. he understands christianity even though we dont practice it in our household. he also understands that it's everyone's right to practice whatever religion they want if they so choose and Id be fully supportive of him practicing any religion including taking him to services etc
but he's only 9 so he hasnt asked yet.
