Is his stuff still good today? Was he cutting edge? I wish I had something from his ug lab, maybe one day it will be in a museum. Any good stories about him?

This guy was my all-time favorite BB'ing hero. Guy was a genius in my mind. A very good thinker and lightyears ahead of everybody else. You hear of cutting edge experts nowadays, but none compare in my mind. Everybody sort of carves themselves after this guy. A pioneer on chemical enhancement. Some bro's will mention he was wrong a lot, but shit, who isn't nowadays. With the science we had available in his day, he did an awesome job. On the other hand, his was right a hell of a lot more than he was wrong.

One of his strongest assets was his writing. The guy could write and catch reader's attention like no one else. When he popped out in MM2000 about 10yrs ago, there was a cult of people going nuts for his writings and views on all topics. This is even after his stroke problems and encarcerations that he had to go through. From those that new him "pre-stroke days," he was a giant, a real genius for his time.

I could go on and on about this guy, but i'll let others mention what they also know of him.

IMO he is a TRUE BB legend. RIP DD!!!

You can probably do a search on the different boards that have copy and pasted his work. However, you might also want to check out QFAC.com (if i'm correct) and email her on anything they have available from him.

I am old enough to remember his articles in the old mm2000 and about before he went to prison he shot 3 amps of sust all over his car seat! any magazines like the old mm2000 around?

I have both Underground Steroid Handbooks. They're certainly interesting, but the information is just a little to old to be usable.

Agreed, that sums it up well. He was probably considered cutting edge early on when his steroid philosophies were first printed and published, but I am not so sure nowadays. I think a lot more has been learned about AAS and pct since his glory days, [perhaps a lot due to him], that's helping bros like us today. He was smart and controversial.

MuscleMedia 2000, that was a cool magazine.

that was a sad day too....
agreed............and I almost bought a lifetie script to his mag. Gald I waited to see what direction it was gunna take....it took the wrong one

I bought his under ground book in the early eighties. He was all there was back then. It was a little book made in someone garage. His advise was not the best. It was just a way for him to make a buck.

Dan is a hero and legend. Like all pioneers, he was inaccurate in details, but the spirit survives. The person above who said the new experts all model themselves somehow on Dan is absolutely correct. Dan was a great pioneer. Good tribute thread -- thx.

Towards the end it seemed almost angry towards juice, like he was upset everyone thought of him as this guru. At least that is what I got out of his later articles. Remember the articles on how to smuggle out of Mexico(I think, it has been a long time). I liked the way he wrote though

he used to comunicate at the Old EF... helped out a good many members... chef and ranger remember him, i am pretty sure.

love duchaines work. one of all time greats.

Dan was not always right in his theories, but he surely opened up doors that nobody even thought of. I believe he was single handly responsible for bringing clen. into our life, and he has probably had more effect on the sports supplement industry than any other single person.

He was born with polycystic kidney disease, a genetic defect that often leads to kidney failure, and it ultimately took his life. Many will say that his experimentation on himself is what led to problems, but the autopsy stated it was due to his genetic defect. Steroids probably accelerated his condition.

RIP..."THE GURU"

Dan is a genius and a god among men. He's a big reason I got into mainstream fitness, thanks to his guidance (personal and thru friends).

It was a sad day when he passed away!

Dan Duchaine is my Guru hero. He's the reason that I started delving deeper into nutrition and chemical enhancement. He was cutting edge. He would admit that he's been wrong before and will be wrong again, but he always had the balls to lay it out there. Mad props to the original guru. Rest in peace brotha.

Yeah, I remember the old days of Elite when Dan Duchaine used to post... That was when Pat Arnold would post too.... Made the board look like an Organic Chemistry information board..... Then there was some punk kid from Minnesotta that would razz them named Animal.... No one knew about Animal's education background, but the kid knew his stuff.... Lots of contraversiol posts, Flames, and just some damn good info back then.... Also tons of source posts/lists out in the open if I can remember right.... Posts like: Get Legit steroids from Spain and France here!!!!.... I can remember feeling kinda cocky, like I knew something back then.... Then I would log on Elite, read some posts I knew nothing about, and felt knocked down about 12 pegs.....

I still believe Dan Duchaine is the reason the American public got into the Low Carb Diet fad.... Yeah Atkins is credited with it, but Duchaine was preaching about low carb diets years before Atkins ever did.... Dan would post about his diet philosophies on Elite, and a few of us tried them even before Body Opus came out.... Sure BB's were doing low/zero carb diets before Duchaine was famous, but he popularized them for many gym rats with his Body Opus book..... Dan was very much a pioneer for BB's, and dieters everywhere.... I'm glad I was able to mix it up with him on Elite years ago, and his memory will live on for years to come....
