Cutting while on vegetarian diet?

My mother passed away a few weeks ago and due to religious reasons (I'm not religious myself but am doing it out of respect for her) I'm not allowed to eat meat the next couple months. It seems everything I eat now is loaded with carbs and lacking in protein - I find myself getting 90% of my daily protein intake from shakes.

What kind of foods should I be eating to keep my carb intake at or below 150g? I drink at least one myoplex mrp a day mixed with 16oz skim (I can handle protein shakes mixed with water, but not mrps!). Fat has stayed below 40g a day, cals have definitely been lowered but I'm not counting, protein remains about 180-200g a day, but carbs often top 250+g (bread and pasta..can't think of anything else to eat).

I would like to drop ~5lbs (already lost 5) the next 3-4 weeks to get down to at least 10% bf before my cut cycle. Thanks all!

it's simple all you do is take some good carbs, and use them throughout the day.

slices of whole grain bread. oatmeal packets. yogurt. good cereals. banana. I have no problem at all keeping my carbs at 150 per day. just read calories and serving sizes. and start keeping track of your cals.

Just eat less carbs.....maybe throw in some cottage cheese and eggs if they are 'allowed' in your diet. Otherwise you'll have to just keep protein shakes high and stick to WHOLE grains, beans lentils and veggies for your carbs. But really, 250g carbs + 200g protein plus 40g fat = less than 2200 cals per day total. You may not have to drop calories much at all depending on your size, gender, age and activity level. Just add some ALA as Ulter mentioned and keep the carbs low GI.
