if youre in northern nj like your location says, youre probably in a highly populated area. if the post office and police are bored, they still probably wouldnt go after it if its personal use. if your in sussex county out west, you could be in more of a situation with cops and po having free time to investigate.

You would rarely have issues with us postal. Not many local le are involved in mail opening. usually custom agents. disregard the instructions when you do recieve your letter. keep outer envelope and letter in case source guarantees shipment. good luck bro

customs notifies your local post office. the town police are then presented the information and then from there decisions are made. this is from a post masters mouth. he said its very unlikely in highly populated towns.

I knew a guy that got a letter 2 years later, so the answer is you'll know when you get the letter. Not sure if this pushing the line to talk about though here.
