Customs records

Hey Rick, I'm sold on the book--will be ordering it soon!

My job requires me to deal with customs on a weekly and monthly basis. Each time, they take my ID and punch in my info on their computer. Usually stuff like speeding tickets and things of that nature come up on the screen.

If customs siezes my package and sends me the notice (and of course I do not respond), you say they keep my name on file, probably for future reference or whatever........will my name and that "siezed notice" info be pulled up on their computer also? And if so, how would that affect my entry or exit while working?

Customs certainly has a database that includes individuals who have had packages seized. Whether the personnel you deal with can access that, or just a criminal/traffic records database, I don't know. Computer access capabilities are expanding rapidly. I know anyone with a criminal record or a drug conviction can be raked over the coals at border crossings.

Hey Sinful...just for the hell of it, see if you can find out what the name of the database is that they are using. (Ex. "Techs II)

Oh yeah, one more thing. If customs DOES have my name associated with a siezed package, do they have any grounds to take any kind of action (i.e.-hold me over at the border or refuse my entry or re-entry).

Or can they only question me and give me a hard time and then let me be on my way......just wondering if that type of situation prevails, what my next logical step would be to resolve everything (if there was anything that would need to be done or if there was anything that I could do to clean up the mess).
