Please Scroll Down to See Forums Below Did anyone read the article in Time mag (June 25 issue) about technology that can peer through walls and stuff? They even have a pic of a banana truck passing through the Mexican border full of bananas and people. Really freaky to think what technology is capable of. My question is how will that change getting packages from overseas? Will it be able to snag glass amps? Or just foil wrapped pills? Will it be able to see pills in a bottle? They should just legalize drugs and make laws that pound people who do stupid stuff while on them. Like the tough DWI laws. Much smarter than attempting to legislate morality. If it does not hurt anyone but me, why should that make me a criminal? Thanks guys, I just needed to vent a bit.

I live in canada, and if they legalized pot they could use the money for more helth care, better schooling, etc.

i read that article and i was wondering when a post would turn up on this board about it. i dont think it will be long before they do this on everything entering the country. lets face it, its fast and dosent take a lot of manpower or tax dollars to use........................

BUT, the supreme court recently said that officers couldn't use infared to check suspect's houses who they believe have hydroponics in their house without first getting a warrant to do so..... Wouldn't them using an X-ray, at lets say a border crossing be the same EXACT thing???? They are invading your privacy, have no cause to believe you're smuggling, have no warrant to xray you????
This country is really begginning to piss me off, I think it's time that I hone my politics so oneday I can run for president and make things f'ing right in this country... Great point Italmonster. But even though it is your personal property they would probably say that national security will come first, and if you aren't doing anything illegal you shouldn't have to worry. Kind of scary when you think about it because most people would buy that kind of argument.

Nope its not unreasonable if they really wanted to, and could articulate why they were taking the action. Remember you DO NOT have the same right when at a border crossing as you do when you are across on the streets of the US. On the border they can search anyone anytime for any reason. Up and including x-ray and body cavity searches. They do this with complete impuntiy, meaning you can't do shit about it!!! The border is the only place where you rights are all but suspended, dont be fooled into thinking it is anything different. The border is also one of the only places they can do what they want with no warrant...
