Curves... LOL

The local news just did a report from Curves a bit ago. The Curves "trainers" were showing the newscaster how to work the machines. I'm pretty sure these trainers learned all they know from Oxygen magazine. The machines they use are all hydraulic. The newscaster lady was doing the push/pull machine and the trainer told her to keep her elbows up and even with her shoulders. That's great on the rotators. And the lady was doing some leg exercise and the trainer told her it would be great for her bikini line. She also was telling her it would tighten and tone the area. Oh, and the squat machine was hydraulic and the trainer was telling the newscaster not to go to parallel as she went down, but to stop above parallel. What is funny, is that everyone in the place was a whale. Every person they showed was fat, except the newscaster. Between sets, you are supposed to walk in place. These chubbies were barely moving walking in place. The newscaster mentioned there were baked goods over on the snack table, and one of the fatties walking in place said since she was working out, she was gonna go get a doughnut from the snack table. Yeah, barely moving walking in place to burn 10 calories, only to shove 5 doughnuts in your face at 200 calories a piece. Anyways, just wanted to rant. That place was complete misinformation, and looked to be a waste of time. All of the women there were fat. It's amazing they are making so much money. I wonder if they are any success stories from Curves.

Oh, this is so tempting. At least they are doing something, I guess.

There's one opening near my job. I'm sure it will be hit. Even though my company has a great gym (free weights, cardio machines, racquetball court, basketball court, etc.)

On one hand, I think it's good that women (and the women who gravitate towards that sort of place are usually really out of shape) are out moving around. That's great. And I'm sure it can help them out at first.

But when there's a lack of ability to change the intensity of the resistance they're really just wasting time. Though it's better than sitting on their butts.

It just seems like they prey on the uninformed. I guess they are getting a bit of cardio, but hell, they could just walk and save the 500$.

So does Bally's and every other gym out there.

My hubby had a meeting/lunch at a local ballpark & there was a Curves rep. there for some reason......She asked him about his wife & does she want to join Curves, want info on it, etc.......

Uhhhhhhh, yeah....

I asked him -- did you tell the woman that your wife is a bodybuilder??
