Critique my diet

27 years old, 178 lbs, goal is to lose weight. Somewhat-fat belly.

Diet:

Meal 1: 300 calories; bagel/cream cheese and water
Meal 2: 120 calorie whey/protien shake, 140 calorie can of tuna
Meal 3: 100 calorie apple, 100 calorie cup of yogurt
Meal 4: 250-300 calorie microwaveable meal
Meal 5: 100 calorie apple, 100 calorie cup of yogurt, another shake

Other days I may substitute one meal for a 300 calorie turkey sandwich.

Total: 1,300 calories per day.

3 days of the week I do 45 minutes of hard weight training, balanced. 2-3 days I run 20 minutes hard or swim 20 minutes non-stop.

Suggestions to lose weight?

Seems a little too low in calories....but you have to do what works - so if it's working stick with it....if you have problems ---->

I would up your fat intake (maybe get an omega oil blend)....and lose the carbs from the apples....I've always found that too much fruit keeps me from getting lean (but that's just me)....as you cut carbs increase protein to compensate.....

oh and Watch for excessive sodium in the microwave meals....it can sneak up on you!!

sounds wat to low on cals. Plus it seems your only looking at your cals do a break down of the prot:carb:far ratio too.

Anyway i would get some more cals in there lose the appels (fructose) the youghurt (lactose) and just subsitute in some better carbs (brown rice oatmeal). And of course lots of extra calories
 
bagel is wrong choice for you,apples won't help either. You are eating too little overall food and you MUST eat red meat-try for 2000-2500 calories a day and 6-7 total meals
 
Well said....

As the others have said, up the calories. Get away from those high glycemic foods such as bagels, ditch the apples for some complex carbs, up the protein to stave off muscle loss, and watch the lactose. Can't go wrong with chicken and rice!
