Creatine while boxing?

Is it good to supplement your diet with Creatine while you are competing in boxing? Creatine holds water so it would seem to be counterproductive.

What about for MMA and grappling?

Also, does creatine help your stamina at all?
 
if you are training

I find that creatine is a no no if you are still trying to lean down... because you will gain some water weight and trying to train with this extra weight is very tiring.... by fatiguing your muscle by adding extra weight sometimes lead boxers to gain weight.... Stamina helps endurance on events such as weighlifting and short explosive fighting. when training to fight you are looking for greater length endurance.... the order in which most energy is used is ATP, creatine, pyruvate, glucose from liver, glucose from muscle, finally fat deposits.... I guess pyruvate might be more effective than creatine if you train longer than 30-60sec bursts....
 
creatine will help you gain some water weight, and that water weight means more strength. just make sure you are drinking 2 gallons a day.
