Creatine and caffeine...

I haven't used creatine in a really long time, but back when I was everyone said not to take it with caffeine. So, would it be ok to still have 2 cups of coffee a day as long as I wasn't taking the creatine right then? I don't plan on using it within an hour or two of drinking coffee. I think I take in enough water to compensate for the diuresis caused by the caffeine, so that shouldn't be a problem.

I heard that caffeine can affect the absorption of creatine, or something like that, so yeah, just space them out a few hours and you should be OK.

200mgs of caffine has a half life of 10 hours. That is same amount of caffine in a vivarin

I drink a boat load of coffee in the morning and take creatine after my workout which puts me a few hours apart, but I know there is still caffine in me to some degree. My body responds well to creatine regardless so maybe there is a problem with having creatine and coffee in the gut at the same time. If thats the case, you only need to wait several minutes, not 2 hours.

muscles fill with creatine and in turn will make them retain water, and caffien is a diruretic...counter acts your creatine totally

Creatine does more than hydrate your muscle cells. Granted, the diuretic effect of caffeine will dehydrate you, but if you drink a little extra water (12 oz. for every cup of coffee) it should offset the diruetic effect. I don't believe there are any studies to prove that caffeine affects creatine. To be safe you could space them by 30 min. or so.

What?

Caffeine wouldn't effect intracellular water. There are zero studies that support the ingestion of caffeine having a counteraction with creatine effectiveness.
