Cramping question

been having some cramping issues lately, but the other day I got real dehydrated at work had had some REAL problems. I got Taurine about a month ago (I am not on clen, but use stims alot), hasn't really helped. Up'ed my H2O intake, to no avail. I just boght some potassium supps at GNC (500mg or so I believe). Is this all I need? or is this even gonna help. I thought Potassium works with sodium and magnesium....do I need to up my sodium (I get just a little in my diet) and magnesium?

Thanks, I just dont know much about this.

How much Taurine are you taking, and what is your current H2O intake?

Im assuming you work outdoors..and at the current season you may be experiencing "heat cramps" due to the dehydration or heat stroke symptoms..i would go see a doc if you keep getting these even when you up your water intake.

Im a firefighter. so yes, when we work, its usually in extreme conditions, but most downtime is indoors. The other day I did have heat related problems from being in full gear for 6 hours in 90+ temps, plus carrying 100#s for about an hour in a building with a steam firse suppression system which made it over 200 degrees.....but I have been fighting cramping before this, so the problem was there previous. I made sure to up my water following that day to about 2 gal a day, now back to 1-1.5 daily. Peeing alot, and clear. pretty sure i am adequatly hydrated. Gonna give the potassium/taurine a try.

Bro for you it is electrolytes if you are not taking anything like Clen atm. I have worked with a lot of firefighters, and even been in bunker gear busting up cars with a Jaws of Life in August in Texas. IT IS HOT! Gatorade bro. You need to replace fluids and electrolytes. If you are really curious about it, go have your serum electrolytes checked (Basic Metabloic Panel) at a lab. Should cost about $40.00. That would give you a definative answer about your potassium, sodium, and other electrolyte levels.

There was a post recently about potassium intake.

I cant remember the thread...however, it was implied that it would be very hard to take too much potassium.

Would love more input on potassium...

I hear what your saying, and I made sure to drink the kinda like gatorade drink the fire dept. provides, hell I needed the sugars too since we were there so long. I dont think there was a alot I coulda done different at that scene....just alot of hard work in very hot conditions.

My concern is that even before, I feel like I am gonna cramp. Usually in my tri's after chest or arms, and then in my quads at the fire. I have only actually cramped a couple times, but there have been numerous times I felt it comming on and was able to avoid it.

currently, I have uped my H2O, started Taurine about a week ago. Started with 1/2 table spoon added to my protein shake, currently up to about 1 1/2 table spoons through out the day. Started Potassium today (500mg preworkout), and started a new daily vitamin that has 100% rda magnesium but no potassium. Did chest today, and have had about 5 episodes where I thought my tri's were gonna cramp, but was able to stretch them out and avoid it.....thank God too, because when they cramp its only the outside head of the tri that cramps, and my arms look freakish with a hole in the middle of my tris the size of a baseball, plus the pain ofcourse. So any advice is appreciated, and if it doesnt improve it looks like an office visit will be made.

supps: stim x (2am) glucorell, with meals as needed, sesamax (3 a day), taurine, and now the daily vitamin + potassium supp.

Thanks

Drink a boatload of Gatorade for a few weeks.
