This dude Jack married my cousin Kate years ago, about 25 years ago to be exact. They had two children, but it was a rocky relationship, Kate was not faithful, both were drug addicts (meth mostly), Kate even got busted working as a prostitute.
Jack, while having his shortcomings, distanced himself from the situation but did his best to take care of the two children. He had a tough time, but made things work most of the time. Worked as an auto mechanic. Got busted embezzeling money with another co worker and did some recent time in prison for that.
While in prison my cousin Kate was writing him letters daily, said she wanted to get married again, be a family, etc. THis really got him through his prison stint.
He gets out, and they go and get a marriage license. The thing is, Kate was seeing some other dude, her drug dealer of course, and Jack said hell no, if we are getting married we're gonna be clean and you can't see this guy. Kate said no way, so marriage is off. Strike 1.
Strike 2 is the Child Protective Services says he is not allowed to see his 15 year old daughter, Eileen. This crushed him, but with his history, you can't blame him.
Strike 3 was that Jack was living with my Aunt Beth. Aunt Beth was good to him, loves him like a son. The catch here is that Jack's Daughter Eileen lives with Aunt Beth, who else can she live with? Her mother is a drug addicted whore and her father was in prison.
Before prison, Jack was living with Aunt Beth, but because of the CPS order, he can't be near his daugher, so he couldn't live with Aunt Beth anymore. a HUGE strike 3 for him.
He was depressed and hopeless this entire month.
On Sunday Aunt Beth comes home and tried to open her garage and it won't open all the way, so goes inside the house and goes into the garage. Jack's truck is in there and running. There is a hose running from the tailpipe to the front cabin. Jack is laying back in the seat reclined, and dead.
