Where do most of you get yours, and how much do you take? I have never taken it before, and am interested if many of you like it? Thanks

Make sure you have a coffee grinder, a cheap Wally World one will work. The human digestive system can't break down the hulls so you have to break them. They sell Flax seed there too, in a bag on the vitamin aisle. Pricey tho. Not sure if a feed store would be the best place to go, because regulations for animal feed aren't as stringent. Anyone else found a decent source?

I take oil, two tablespoons a day. Only buy from a source that has a high turn over, and be sure to check the expiration date on the bottle. Only buy oil that is packaged in a very dark bottle, dark brown or black with a high Lingan count. I personally stay away from plastic bottles and buy oil in glass bottles and I buy in small amounts so I always have a fresh supply. Once it's opened it MUST be stored in the refer or it will get rancid VERY fast. I get mine at Trader Joe's, but you can get it at most supplement stores.

You can get Flax Seeds by the lb really cheap from Whole Foods. I believe its less than a $1.00 per lb. If you are familiar with Whole Foods, they sell seeds, nuts, beans, pastas, flours, cornmeal, like most supermarkets sell coffee beans. I get my raw almonds from them too (6-7.00 per lb; but you get way more almonds than they sell at the supermarket).

I grind it up and use 2T of the meal in my shakes at night.

Whole foods is killer!

If you're trying to ensure that you get enough omega-3s, fish oil is the way to go, since the EFAs are already in the form of EPA/DHA and don't have to be inefficiently converted by the body from ALA (the form found in flax). ~3 g combined of EPA/DHA would be a good amount to shoot for (around 10 standard fish oil caps).

Flax seeds would still a very good addition to your diet, though. In addition to natural foods stores, Bob's Red Mill is a good brand that's sold at a lot of regular grocery stores. They have flax meal, which would save you the trouble of grinding up the seeds yourself. You can also order stuff from their website if you can't find flax locally or want to buy it in larger quantities.
