Could you go from a fat fuck to running a marathon in a year?

his only running experience was being in the marine corps for 4 years...4 years ago.

he has better genetics than 99% of the people on this site. guaranteed.

he is one of those guys who looks pretty fucking built, but NEVER works out. by never, i mean NEVER.

i brought him to the gym to workout once, and without touching a weight for god only knows...he was using 85lb db's for shoulder presses.

i wish i was making this stuff up.

all he ever does is drink himself stupid, work too much, and run through every server at his work.

My buddy, Adam, is the same way. Best genetics I've ever seen and doesn't care at all. He could play pro level football or baseball but doesn't care.

In high school he ran a 4.3 40 yrd dash, benched 390, and squated 565.
 
Geez ... guess I should have worded my question "could you go from a fat fuck to running a marthon in one year, even if you didn't win the athletic genetic lottery"?

It would take a world of determination, discipline and effort though. You are talking about losing weight (a feat on its own) and gaining the stamina/endurance to actually run 42 Kms.
