Copy Files

I am in the process of getting another computer. My question is how do I copy a lot of the files from the old computer to the new. The discs only holds 1.44mb of info. Can you buy discs that hold more info? I cd is only for read only.

You have several options...

Network the PC's. You can use a hub and copy from one to another or get a cross-over cable and connect the network cards.

Use PCAnywhere and transfer via the parallel port.

Put the old PC's hard drive as a secondary drive in the new pc.

Swap hard drives.

Put the old computer hard drive into the new computer (so you will have 2 HD) after setting auto-detect HD settings in the new comp bios, that way you just plug in the old HD, copy the files and simply take it out with no problems. Assuming your ok with some minor hardware work.

PCAnywhere would be the easiest option if you aren't that confident with computers.

I agree. You can find it at any store that sells software, or if you know someone in the IT field, it is a very common software package.
