Each year in Tacoma, WA the cops and firefighters get together for a charity basketball game. In this case for underprivileged kids living in the Hilltop neighborhood. As it turns out, the Tacoma Police officers who played in the game weren't donating their time (see below). All this in a city that has been complaining lately that they don't have enough money to keep things running smoothly and need more taxes. The firefighter were not paid.

"An anonymous whistleblower complaint, filed June 1 with the city manager’s office, raised the issue. It alleged officers were paid for a full 10-hour shift even though the game was only a few hours, they were paid to practice for the May 29 match up and other officers were required to work overtime to cover some of the shifts during the game."
