Cops getting a search warrant, without intercepting package??

Just curious,
How do police officers get a search warrant, if they didn't find steroids from a package stopped at customs.
Usually, something was found at customs, and a warrant is given.
What evidence do they need to do a search on someone suspicious of selling drugs?

Maybe a current or former source got popped and gave you up. Been throwing anything incriminating in the trash?

I'm not in any trouble, I'm just curious, because you always read that houses get searched because they had a package seized at customs. Just wondering how it happened to other people, and how they get warrants. Like, they tear your house a part, so they must have good reason to do so. What if they don't find anything, can't you do something against them for what they do to your house?

They need probable cause to believe that there is contraband or evidence of a crime in your residence. There is no one thing that constitutes grounds for a search warrant. Many times it depends on what judge you ask. Basically they need proof that more likely than not there is contraband in your home. So like someone else said, if you had a reliable CI that said you had gear in your house and then a packaged was seized addressed to you, that would just about do it. Just keep the house clean bro and you don't have anything to worry about. If you must keep some around, hide it in the insulation in your roof. Don't make tracks in the insulation over to it though, that would be like leaving bread crumbs for them to follow.
