convince me to train calves

i really really really hate training my calves. i avoid it at all costs.. just seems like a waste of gym time. why should i train calves? tell me that it'll help my squats or deadlifts or something.. that will motivate me.

Why would you risk a weak link?

and if you don't, you'll look like all the other top-heavy dorks that don't train calves, and you'll loose any respect from real lifters.:)

my calves stay sore constantly if im training strongman or not. and i never work them. but they are bad out of porption to my 32 inch thighs........

mainly, the heavier i get, the bigger my calf's get. they are over 18 inches currently.

but i would train them occasionally, im just lazy when it comes to them and rest on my genetics.

I used to never train them, but as my squat got big I realized they became the limiting factor. They are important for the walkout.

They also help a lot with strongman training; before I trained them, I would get shin splints a decent amount from farmers walks and super yoke.

Plus it looks kind of stupid if you have 30 inch thighs and 15 inch calves. Don't laugh--that's only a mild overstatment for me.:)

First off this is reason enough. Secondly they will make you squat stronger as a lot of stress is placed on your calves for support.

i need to start training mine. my thighs are starting to dwarf them. they are pretty big though, 17 inches if i remember right.
