stats??? (before and after)

Thanks bro! I'm 5'9" tall. In January before I started to do any dieting at all I was around 210lbs. at about 14% bodyfat. I started my strict precontest diet the beginning of July when I was 190lbs. and about 9% bodyfat. I competed about two and a half months later (in September) at 172lbs and 4.5% bodyfat.

You should see me now though. Probably right back up to about 12% bodyfat at 200lbs. Look like shit. But, I guess that's life.

great physique, but I gotta comment how funny you look with the tan around the face area :), tho' I'm sure 99% of people look like that with a tan. Don't take offense.

u look great dude. good job. i believe the contest was in my neck of the woods also. should have come seen it. let me know next time when and where if it's in the detroit area

I hear you bro, I am same height and competed at 180lbs 4.5% 3 weeks ago and weigh 230lbs today, so much water I've got fat chick ankles....oh well

No offense taken. I know my face made me look like a complete jackass. But, one of the judges commented I was a little too light during prejudging so for the night show I just smeared it on. Kinda look like Rambo. He, he. Thanks man.

Thanks bro! Yeah, it was in Belleville, Michigan. Not that great of a show though really. You didn't miss too much. Dennis James and Dexter Jackson guest posed though which was pretty cool. I live in Cinci though so I'm not sure when I'll be back up in that area.

Great job. Funny to pose in front of a street. You must have got some funny looks from people driving by.

I was actually out in front of my hotel room. But, yeah I did have some crazy looks from people driving by. Even had a little teenage fan club watching me. I felt like a star, lol. Not quite.

Was the contest in front of your house?

LOL. Nahh man. Just took some photos before the evening show outside my hotel room and a few more pics back at the hotel that night before heading back home. My fiance took some pics of me onstage at the contest but she was too far back in they didn't turn out very good. But, just think if the show was at my house I could have easily taken 1st place! :D

Looking good bro, But what did you place? I might have read over it but dont think i did. Also how old are you?

I actually only placed 4th in my weight class which was a little discouraging, but there was 11 guys in my class who were all in pretty good shape. I looked a lot better the night before the show and seemed to lose everything right before prejudging. I'm thinking nerves got the best of me or I didn't time my final details right w/ the water and salt and shit. Should've taken at least 2nd if I would have been on the money. But, there's alwasy next time I guess.

look fucking awesome dude. May I ask what your contest diet was?

Thanks my man. It was very strict for about 2 1/2 weeks. Pretty much consisted of Egg Whites, Chicken Breasts, Fish, Lean Beef, and Beverly Protein Powders for protein. Green Vegetables, Sweet Potatos, Rice, Green Apples, Grapefruit, and Oatmeal for carbs. Flax Oil for fats. Strictly water or diet beverages with no sugar for beverages. Ate around 6-8 times per day. Trained four days a week and did cardio on the other three. Definitely was not much fun!

actually I've cut out all the obvious sodium, except for whats in cottage cheese, pop, etc, but the water is still crazy. I wonder how much it might have to do with the gh that I started right after the show

Aren't those called "cankles"???? lol....

haha for cankles. Congrats flexdiesel on sticking to the diet too. Its not easy thing to do. I used to eat canned chicken and tuna, but there is all that sodium, do you just eat regular chicken and tuna then? It is hard being in college to prepare all kinds of food.

Thanks partner! Yeah, dieting was rough. Luckily I took some time off work to just focus on my training, eating, and cooking. It is very strict and time consuming. I did a couple of shows back a few years ago when I was still in college and didn't do near as well. Shoot, when you get down to that low of a bodyfat % your pretty much brain dead, along w/ everything else being dead, so it is definitely not easy. As far as sodium goes I didn't worry about it. I actually added salt to about every meal I ate. As long as your drinking a large amount of water every day sodium should not pose a problem.

thanks man, I drink at least a gallon a day, have tried to quit drinking (as much), but I go to LSU so its kind of hard lol....

Live it up bro! You only live once enjoy yourself while you can. I miss those college days even though Cincinnati was kinda boring anyways.

yeh I hear ya, they have some big guys at the gym though so I try to get there as much as I can. Right now I am working out at least 4 times a week. I do chest/ tris. Back/bis. Legs. Shoulders/calves. Sometimes arms by themselves. For power moves I usually alternate between deads, cleans, and squats every week. I try do at least 45 minutes cardio 3-4 times a week. I will try to get in the pool and swim, since I swam in high school and was in good shape. I am too fat to put on my old speedo though right now lol.

Looks like my workout routine. Pretty solid bro. Just keep punching so you'll be "the Big Guy" at the gym. I probably couldn't even get my legs in my posing trunks now either and it's only been a little over a month. Isn't that something?

Yeh I was always kind of pudgy. With my clothes on (the typical frat guy polo shirt khaki shorts haha) no one thinks I have fat on me. But when i take my shirt off I am not fat, but could lose 10 pounds or so. I am taking thermorexin and glucorellR to try and get rid of this. It seems that I was always kind of fat, and even when I swam competitively in high school, 2.5 hours a day and weights 3 times a week, I was cut but if i stopped for 2 days, I was noticeably fatter. After state 2 years ago, I quit because I did not want to swim in college, but I gained so much weight (fat). I just cant seem to get rid of it now, and I am in no shape to swim 2 hours a day yet.

It's all in the diet man. And that's something I'm not ready to give up just yet. When it's abolutely necessary than I'll get back on track.

Right now, I try and eat at least 4 times a day. But I usually so busy. When I do eat I try and get chicken and/or tuna in there, whey 3 times a day, some omega 3 oils, and some carbs. But I guess I should try and be more specific on what I eat and actually set up a definite plan. I try and eat eggs and some bacon in the mornings before class, and chicken for snack or lunch. Afternoon and dinner is usually dinner at the frat house, but I just try and eat the meat and no rice or anything.

LOL!!! Seriously though, You looked smooth amigo. And that's not smooth as in filled with water, that's smooth as in looked great :) Good Job.

Good show bro! The pro tan on the face is pretty funny though. You're right though, the lights will wash you out in a heartbeat.

Cankles-my partner in the last show we did, had cankles from wearing socks after the show. You could actually measure a half inch difference from his leg to his sock line. weird.

I was a swimmer in high school too. But by no means do I go near a speedo. Those things are taboo anymore, unless it's stage time here in Michigan.

Good work big man! Gonna get ready for the Cincy w/me? ;) Missery loves company.

Thanks my man! You should see me now bro. Nothing like that. No Cincy for me. I think I'm going to be chilling out for awhile. I'll help you out on the way though if you need it. I'm sure you won't though. Good luck man and have fun.

looking good

Hey Flex,

As someone who helped you with posing about 3 weeks out I do think you lost fullness, but you still looked real good.

After discussing it with you, Ill bet the immediate drop in sodium and water did you in. Personally I feel that you would have fared better at 180 and 5% which is about where you were when I was helping you pose. You were full and looking pretty dry then. Maybe next time If you look as good that far out I wouldnt change a damn thing, you were gonna make weight either way. I dont drop water for my shows, albeit our preps are different, but if you look good two weeks out why fuck with things.

As for things to bring up, you know its your legs, especially hamstrings and the quad sweep. Arms and shoulders are solid. May want to prioritize chest and legs and really only work shoulders and arms more light for awhile to improve on your symmetry.

When your head is feeling it, lets set up training on Mondays. Im thinking chest, as Im hitting legs with supertech. I normally make it in about 1:15PM.

You arent looking that bad now, but it would help to get back on a decent 6 meal diet. That will make a huge difference right now as to your mental state and how you feel about training. You know I can help in that area if you wanna email go for it. Remember the motivation you had a couple months ago, dont lose sight of that. Ill talk to ya later,

don't you know it all....
it'd stay strong and heavy on your shouldersas u obviously are already, just hit your quads and claves twice a week for a while, bring them out a little more

Kewl, I need to get that tape from you again so I can make a copy of it this time. That alone would be a huge help.

No problem partner. Get a hold of me or I'll get a hold of you.
