Consumer Question

Business A has been in town for 15 years....has a good reputation....and X price.

Business B has been in business for 4 years....good reputation, but new to the area of Business A....also Business B has the same product and service but 25-50% cheaper than X price.

Which one would you choose?

Feel free to ask more questions if needed.

Some businesses need to have good tech support, or good customer service etc. Some just sell you a baseball hat and you`re on your way. It depends what you`re buying.

If it were a hat, I would go with the discount store. If it were a computer with software etc. I`d go with 15 year company.

Okay,.....no need to be cryptic...thought it would make it easier, but I realized I've just made it more confusing......

This is a party rental business....both A and B.....Tents tables chairs.......

I'm B...smaller company, but want to move to area A because there is less competition (or it appears that way) and they are getting 50-100% more for their tents than I am (same tent and I have better quality).

i pitch tents too man... multiple times a day.

Now that we have details...

Is business A in a small town where there will be a lot of local loyalty?

No....large city and surrounding cities......they're main business is graduation parties so the clients are for the most part are new.

I plan on doing a direct mailing to HS seniors...offering 10% off to this area....I don't believe company A does this.

Well in this case, I'd probably go with the cheapest price, the most convenient location, most reliable service, largest selection, etc.

go for it. if that company is making such a large margin then the market must be open for a little competition, especially if most of the business is new and not repeat customers.

Business B for sure!

If I'm getting the same everything, yet for a lower price, that's a no brainer.

Plus the fact that Business B is newer means they will probably give a little more to try and take away customers from Business A.

Too bad for Business A. If they can't adapt and role with change, they'll eventually fail. That's life! It's a dog eat dog world.

Both have enough time Established in this business to tell me they don't screw over their clients.

Ask about the Quality/Age/Clleanliness of the Tents/Chairs/Tables because Bus B is saving $ somewhere.

Maybe it's labor or they own their own equip.
I would ask to SEE the actual stuff they are going to use before deciding.

Which ever one you go with, I know one thing for sure is,
I had better damn well be invited to the party.

You can't measure the choice for this soley on the basis of price. Going beyond the basics of covering your costs + a good profit to determine price. Pricing has a psychological component to many people.

So what are the products?

I get the feeling you are looking to buy one of them to add to your already overflowing Coffer$, right BB ?

Also, Will you be mailing only to the HS Sr Boys ?

Y...I own business B at this moment. I am looking to sell it because of the stress it entails.

If for some reason I still have it next season, I want to concentrate on a new location. One where they are getting much more money for their rentals than I currently get. I'm just worried to jump into an area that I have had limited business with in the past.

I also need to set up a cheap and somewhat generic website.....and have no clue where to start. Something like www.sharonspartyrental.com

Do you offer all that stuff or just tents?

No...I have tents, tables, chairs, and sidewalls.........I planned on getting more down the road.

I'm not interested in the china, silverware, and linen crap....too much of a headache. I'd rather keep it to the "bigger" rental items.

I was looking into the moonwalks, sumo suits, etc. as well.

I saw an AWSOME huge Spiderman jumpmoonwalk thingy the other day in our neighborhood.

You gotta get one of those.. K ?

Delievery to your place would be a little pricey.

Go with whichever company hires and empployees the most americans and use American Made Products. No offense to Canada, but too much of our work is going to China and Mexico and south africa.
