I bet $1000 that each and every one of you has at one time or another had unprotected sex.
I have in my youth numurous times... I was lucky to have not even caught a STD.
I don't feel people should have to suffer with a horrible diease regardless of how they contracted it. I strongly support the HIV/AIDS research... These affect not only on adults but, teenagers, and infant born with it.
I push for research into HPV as well, I'm currently trying to get a change in the military, and in the civilian world to raise the age limit, and include men. Since, we carry the HPV that women contract and get cancer from.
Before throwing out numbers, etc... Keep in mind what is most likely to kill or affect the population 1 - 65. CVD - something you can control alot easier than if you've already contracted a disease like AIDS/HIV...
Do you know there are people running around with Hep C and don't even know...This disease is deadly but, you can go on for most of your life and not know you have it. Not really high on the list for research. The only one I can see should have close to equal funding should be cancer research.
As far as AIDS/HIV being a behavior driven disease, and it seeming to be the stance of why it shouldn't receive the funding it does... I remember you saying you work in the medical field... Well, so do I... How do you feel about Cops ,Fire fighters, EMTs, LVNs, RNs, etc getting stuck with a 'AIDS' needle, or getting exposed to any blood from someone infected. Or lets say I'm in the middle east... which I go quite often... BSI is not always an option for me... What do you say to those people... sorry you're screwed. You handle research like triage, what is most likely to kill or affect the largest amount of people, in the worst way.
Not saying they were ass bandits... They deserve it...
Medicine is not about judging people... It's about protecting the public, and giving people quaility of life. If I misspelled anything or it looks odd in it's sentance structure... Sorry, I'm exhausted... But, I seen this thread and had to throw my 2 cents in. I back what
