HELP!
I'm a bit lost right now.
I have been doing my training starting at 2 sets of 15 reps for 4 weeks, then 3x12 for 4, then 4x10 for 4, and now im doing 3x8.
But i spoke to one of my friends who is studying like a sports science degree. The plan i had was to got from 3x8 to 4x6 and then maybe 4x4 or 5x4(for 4 weeks) then 5x1-3 reps during my football season. But he said to me that i wont gain any strength because of the training for football and games and stuff. The problem is my season last really really long and we dont play that many games a month(training 2 nights a week) so i was wanting to really improve my max strength during the season. But if i cant I wont be in good shape for a really really important competition in August.
So i was either going to keep going with what im doing and get to the low reps high weight during the season. OR i could start pushing my max lifts now and be in better shape for the start of the season(April) and then try and maintain my strength for the next 5 months.
What do you think? I'm totaly confused and dont know what to do.
Cheers
