Confused about.... (gymtime?)

Now, in the long run I will definitely want to keep as much muscle as possible. However, what would you do in my situation? In the next six weeks I want to get to the smallest size possible. (Bridesmaid) Should I still go by what you are saying or would you say continue with my routine as follows.

50 min. of Tae Bo. in the am on an empty stomach. Four times a week.
Weights four times a week in the evening.
Monday: Chest/tri's
Tuesday: Back/bi's
Wednesday: Off
Thursday: Shoulders/calves
Friday: Legs
Saturday: Off
Sunday: Off

My diet is
Cal: 1500-1700
Pro: 190-200
Fat: 25-45
Carbs: 105-115

I eat 5 meals a day. Two being MRPs

My height is 5'6
Weight is 192
Bf is 25%

Before you freak out. My currant program should not be a shock to my body. This was an old routine I used before putting on the extra weight over the last two years while not working out. I also was not eating right. (I just don't want you thinking that I am new to this life style and that I am putting my body through something completely foreign)

If you could critique this, I would appreciate it.

I have been doing it for about month. I feel more firm and am seeing some results. I just want to make sure I am optimizing my time. I am feeling pretty strong and my weights are going up.

IMO your cals are way too low. Up them by about 300 cals daily. You want to keep your muscle, so those numbers a lil too low. Your bmr is 2300. Right now you're eating 1500-1700 cals. Bump them to 2000 and see what happens for a bit, even tho' it'll still be below your BMR. You should ideally be eating AT your bmr and looking for something like a 300 calorie daily defacit through workout or dieting. Anything more, well you're gonna lose more weight sure, but the muscles gonna come ripping off as well. So up the cals, and go with the 40-30-30 ratio. If you're eating 5 meals a day, this ='s out to be 40 grams of protein, 30 grams of carbs, and 13 grams of fat per meal.

I second the thought about a CKD for a quick weight loss.

I'd have to agree. It's a much better idea, IMO, than doing all that morning cardio.

I would do the CKD, your regular workout, then add a little post workout cardio, say 20 minutes or so, 3x per week. If you can handle that for six weeks, you will see a huge change.

Thanks!
I am trying to decide just how important this initial weight loss for the wedding is to me. I will have to learn more about CKD. I have a hard enough time getting the cals that i do, while keeping the carbs down to around 100g. I need more ideas for protien rich meals i guess. I will atleast get the cals up around 2000 if i dont go CKD. I will cut down on the Tae Bo and do 20 min of cardio after weight training.

I was thinking about going higher reps, light weight at a faster pace. Then cardio. Would that be geared more towards fat burning? An example of the rep range and weight i am currantly doing would be; Incline dumbel press, working my way up to 35lbs for 10 reps on my fourth set. Or on legs; leg press, four plates on each side on my last set of 10 reps. Should i back off and go higher reps?

Thanks,

If you want to lose weight for the wedding, I'd start carb cycling, 150g on weight training days, and 50-75 on non training days (cardio only days), leave protein and fat constant, and do not factor fiber into the carb amount.

Drink TONS of water.

Train as planned.

When you get about a week out, if you are not where you want to be, or are holding alot of water for one reason or another, fat fast for 3-4 days before the wedding. After the wedding, use some R-ALA before the reception so you don't BLOW UP from the food. :)

After the wedding, and I mean ASAP, go right back to the carb cycling and stay on it until you reach your goals.

Keep in mind that if you are fat, and you drop water, you will still look fat, only smaller. 6 week of careful dieting and smart training can drop you about 12-15 pounds, some of that being water. I've dropped alot more than that in that time, but I wouldn't call it 'smart.' ;)

Hope this helps...just telling you what worked/works for me.

Good luck!

Thank you so much Spatts. :) I think that might work better then the CKD, for me, but I won't know until I try it.

Thanks

Well, it IS like CKD...without the K. :D

It's cyclical, it's a diet, you're just never in ketosis (which I think is an overrated concept for women anyway).
