its not the music, its not the movies, itws a way of life. I'm from chicago and i saw my uncle gunned down 3 feet in front of me. i was 9 years old and lost my child hood cause i promised myself i would not let that happen to my family again. My dad left when i was 5 and i took care of my brother and sister. I went to churches chicken and got shot for 5 dollars when i was 10. I was stabbed when i was 11 for wearing the wrong colors on the wrong block. And stabbed here in orlando 2 weeks ago. I opened his face with one punch. I got 4 stitches on my hand and he got 18 on the right side of his face. He told the cops he was just having a bad day and needed to take it out on someone. You just got lucky cause sometimes they don't say anything and just do it. Poor gets pooere and richer gets richer, thank ur gov. for making people do these things. Its too late to make things right now. life goes on

yeah i remember, wasnt he goin down south to play ball......i only mention it cause i liked following prospects in the GTA......i was a hockey prospect but played football and i loved hearing about guys from my area doing well in a sport where we seem so far behind compared to the U.S.

You will appreciate this, and I stress this is no joke - there used to be a guy we called "Electric Finger." He claimed to have mastered this super secret martial arts style that would let him shoot electric sparks from his finger... that would act like a stun gun on an opponent... and that his skin couldn't be pierced. (He humbly stressed that this was developed for defense against swords... but worked equally well against bullets.)

The wierd part of all this was that the guy's students actually claimed to have seen him do the electric finger technique.

Boxers have endurance...that's it.....I challenge anyone who is an amateur or pro boxer to last more than 3 minutes with me even with the aforementioned endurance..........well there isn't an art out there that will make you bullet proof, so all in all I say you did the smart thing.....train if you like, it will do wonders for your confidence, can't say I am in favor of the gun toting citizen....but if it makes ya feel better that's your right....

Bro, you are probably better off training in MMA (some combo of muay thai, bjj, and wrestling). Not one... NOT ONE.. of the dudes I train with has been beat down... and we've been in PLENTY of fights with Division 1 footballers, etc. NO fight is going to last 3 minutes on the street. 99% of the time you are looking at 30 seconds or less.

You want to spend the next 10 years getting good at some martial discipline.. that's cool. But I don't care what the THEORY behind some martial is on the street. Israeli defense forces... yeah, they do a lot of hand-to-hand combat. Do they teach you to shoot the eyes out of Palestinian children using rubber bullets too? It reminds me of those "Navy SEAL fighting courses" they used to advertise. I'm not saying it can't be effective... but who knows how it works in the average street fight.

But, when all is said and done, you did the right thing by walking away from that situation. ESPECIALLY when you have your GF with you... because those "gangsters" don't spare the women either.

In a life-threatening situation, go for following body parts in this order:
1. eyes
2. eyes
3. eyes
4. testicles
5. throat
6. ears (only takes about 15 lbs of force to pull one of those dogs off. for more effect, hand it to him after you have pulled it off)

What do you think of Krav Maga?

Depends where you live.....there are some good clubs on the west and east coast....L.A. has the best.....but here in the midwest, it is hard to find......It's an excellent workout, but being versed in more than one discipline is best, as there is really not one that is far superior to the other......I have been training for 22 years.....and the most effective combo I have found (that works for me beacause of my size) is Kenpo and BJJ....although I am rapidly becoming a big fan of Combat Hapkido....(mostly because the guy I spar with keeps kicking my ass, Brazilian Mike...a big bad mean fucker) anyway to eah there own.....I just can't stand it when someone comes on here or anywhere and talks all shit about there style or "their buddies style" as being better than the next....it all comes down to heart, strength and versatility.....my background in tae kwan do and muay thai, without a doubt laid the ground work to be successful in Kenpo and BJJ.......PEACE
