This old technique of mine recently came up during a discussion with FZ. As it never failed I thought I might share it here.

Decide on with a sweet, unique sounding term of endearment. Stay away from generic stuff like "sweety, honey, etc". For hetero guys "mouse" is one possible example of something that sounds unique & individualized, but still sweet
As soon as possible with a new person begin substituting this pet name for the person's actual name.

Use the same pet name with all the people you play with.

I know this sounds like a small thing, but the benefits of using it are great, and the risks of not using it are HUGE.


Even if everyone know you're a player, which was the case with me, this will allow them to feel special, and avoid the mutual embarrassment of calling them by the wrong name.
