Computer question

Computer gurus, I call upon your infinite knowledge.

I think my motherboard is fried. A few days ago my monitor began to flicker and randomly shut off. The monitor would then display a "no signal" message. So, I switched monitors, and got the same problem. Later, Windows displayed some kind of "video error" message and promptly shut down the computer. The next day, the computer would not boot. After trying to power on the computer, the fans started and the hard drive initiated but I heard no beeps, and there was no signal on the monitor. I bought a new video card, installed it properly and got ther same result when powering on (no signal to the monitor). Could it be the motherboard? I have four sticks of RAM so I doubt it could be a bad stick of RAM causing this. I haven't installed any new hardware or drivers recently that would cause this problem.

Thanks and karma for any replies

I have never seen this problem myself but it's possible it could be that particular slot. If you have a PCI video card try moving it to a different slot. If you have AGP or PCI-Express you probably only have one of those. Otherwise, I would have to guess the motherboard.

Actually, if there is one bad stick of ram, it will not boot. Try booting it with just each stick by itself and see if it's posts at all. Do you have any type of LED codes like on a dell? If you have a dell, they have codes that you can look up to diagnose the prob. If it's not a dell and it still doesn't post after trying the memory procedure, it is most likely your mobo.

i think its the motherboard.
