turn on the autofill thingy that prompts you in the drop down box when you are typing something that is a close match to a previous entry?

I went to Internet Options >> Content>> AutoComplete >> and checked all three boxes, but so far it still doesn't do it.

also what do I need to click off to make the little pop up boxes from programs to stop showing up? Isn't it Windows Messenging system? Where can I find it? Like I get this Auto Update box that pops up all the time telling me new updates are available for XXX program.

Try
Control Panel - Automatic Updates then change the frequency. Also make sure Messenger is disabled.
START - PROGRAMS - ADMINISTRATIVE TOOLS - SERVICES; open Messenger then disable it.

hey bro... I have XP Media Center, so I don't see Adminstrative tools under my programs. I have that on my XP pro , but not this computer.

For popups ya might wanna invest in a popup blocker or a security program that has it incorporated...
that way you can also control what popups you want to work and others ya wanna nix.

I dumped my Norton Anti Virus for McAfee and it has pop up blocker and spyware killer. Much happier that I no longer have all this shit popping up all over the place.
