computer peeps and geeks, laptop problem

My laptop won't keep up with my typing, it will miss 2-3 letters and pick up again. It happened 3 x's trying to write that sentance. Any suggestions.....

I know you can adjust the repeat key speed but this sounds different. I would probably sprays some canned air under the keys to get rid of dust.

sounds like your laptop is a piece of shit, or seriously lacking memory. Go into the performance tab in task manager and see how much total physical memory you have compared to available physical memory

it's not really a piece of shit, it's a couple years old, 1.5ghz, what is it 512 for the ram back then idk, I'm not a tech oriented guy as you can see.....

the IT guy said it was a common problem, it was acting like it was skipping a second or two of processing, then would be alright. He told me to run my ad-ware and spybot. Ad-aware didn't fix it but after I ran the spybot, it has worked fine. At least for the time being...

Yes you probable have some rogue software on there using your memory and processing power or too many programs installed.
The reason for delayed typing is that you do not have enough memory and or processing power to move at the speed you are moving.

things can get bloated
updated programs or one that are no longer installed can have file extensions associated with them that are unnecessary. among many many other things

I just ran it, my spybot saw it, tried to stop it, it said that I had, what... couple hundred items to "fix", I fixed them. never ran a registry cleaner that I know of, F;in with the registry was always scary. I was told years ago not to mess with it....

manually messing with the registry can be a very bad idea. I manage 15 servers and over 300 PC's and have yet to have a registry problem by running that scan.
