What is Windows XP HotFix?

On my add/remove programs i've got about 20 icons with Windows XP HOTFIX (and then some code after it).

Can i delete these?

No, don't delete them. They are security updates to your system.

What jnuts said.

If you want to clean up the "Add/Remove Programs" list, you can download "TweakUI" from Microsoft -- it gives you lots of ways to make XP more friendly, one of them being it can remove those icons from the list without uninstalling the fixes. You're basically telling Windows "OK, I know I will never want to uninstall these, so there's no point having an uninstall icon for them."

Ah ok cheers.

What I'm looking for is whatever program keeps loading up some sort of dialers to £1.50/min games sites which my housemates must be clicking yes on. (Because i keep being billed for it)

Download and run spybot and/or adaware - those programs should clean your computer from that mess.

If not, you'll need to download and run some anti-virus software.
