this sounds a bit like OCD, ive had ocd before . if its getting in the way of normal life, or ur average day to day things, then put a stop to it. and see a doctor or something.

i burn food because im afraid it wont get done
and i wont eat the middle of a sausage patty because it dont look done to me

My pens cannot mix. The reds have to be separate from the blues, etc. I don't mind diversity in my dating life, but my pens and other writing utensils cannot mix.

When I get ready in the morning, I have a routine. I'm not happy when its done out of order.

My coats are organized in my coat closet by fabric (wools, then leathers, etc.)

I constantly wash my hands though.

I wasn't always this anal about it but more when I'm at work. Dealing with pieces of equipment soaked in oil and rust and then having residue on my hands is enough to make me insane.

It's funny that kind of stuff doesn't bother me, then again I grew up working on machines and stuff. If I get anything sticky on my hands I am at the sink asap washing them.

I have a routine in the morning too, esp when putting my makeup on. Everything is done in the exact same order everytime from the minute I open my eyes till im walking out the door. If im running late I get so irritated.

My jeans are organized from skinny to fat ;)

LOL, I just have one size of jeans now, got too expensive keeping up with body changes. So now if I lose weight I look like I'm wearing someone elses clothes.

My OCD isn't as bad as it used to be....but I used to have to take an EVEN number of steps before crossing the threshold into a room or else I'd do a little hop to add an extra step.

I still can be a clutterbug - a symptom of OCD and at times when out of my comfort zone I get anxiety....

I brush my teeth 5-10...constantly chew gum..except when I eat....I will turn around & go home if I discover that I don't have a watch on...

OH and I constantly worry whether or not I turned X off or not.... I have to force myself not to constantly recheck or to just check once...

I tend to masturbate looking in the mirror often. I blow kisses at myself and spank myself while doing it. Its not uncommon for me to say outloud "oh, you bad boy" and laugh too.

Then again... everyone does that so I guess its no big deal!

I feel like I understand you all a bit better after reading this thread.

You're all fucking nuts.

But I mean that in a nice way.

Nutso.

Again, in a nice way.

:D

I hate drinking from a used glass. If I have a glass of water then want another one a few mintues later, I will grab a new one.

Good to hear..I thought I had a problem..

Anyone else dance around in high heals with womens underwear on their face like a surgical mask and sing "I'm so pretty, pretty, pretty (your name)?"

I am noticing more and more things lately...and I've being diagnosed with anxiety. Gawd, I totally needed that.

i hate left overs and I wont eat them usually at all. hence im always making small portions.

also I wont eat lunch meat if its older then 5 days from when I brought it home,if I do Ill get violently ill and vomit

I used to have OCD. I had to know if lightswitches were up or down, I had it kind of physically like twitches? Is that a thing?, and if I was just ending a tv show or radio song and was done, I had to know what song/show was on next before I turned it off...not because I care..Like, I still remember from elementary school I was so mad that I couldn't find out what episode of Saved by the Bell was on next, and the bus was in front of my house so I had to leave lol. I also felt really weird about spinning left and right, like I had to even it out (when I walk around) although I only really cared or thought about it when I was bored at home. Also, I had to know what time it was when I ate dinner....and the clock was behind me, so I had to turn around to see it.....and after turning one way, I had to look turning the other way too (remember I had to even things out....) WOW i'm so glad I'm past those things! I haven't thought about it for a while, so now I'm really realizing how bad it was! I think OCD stems from bordum. It went away with two counceling sessions (I was also partially? depressed), and I think realizing that it is a real disease is probobly the biggest help in getting over it. When you're a kid you're still learning about what is normal, so when you do things that you have never heard of before....it's hard to tell anyone!

Now, I'd say i'm over those things 99%. Most of them I never think about anymore, like knowing what song is next (its all about self control), although my body is still quite figety--I sit up in movies, lol, unless i'm sleeping I have such a hard time relaxing.

However, I have become more compulsive in one way. Back when I was a kid I was skinny as a rail and weight was no issue. Now, I think i'm developing an obsession. I had a really bad day today---and ate something I didn't even enjoy----talk about that in a differnt post--and when I came home from school I couldn't do anything until I went for a jog....my attitude has changed completely!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The fact that I couldn't even settle down until I exercized seems compulsive to me.

Yeah, I type a lot. soory!

I have to put on my left shoe before my right always. Have to check the front door 2 or more times before going up to bed to make sure the bolt is locked. Check my alarm on my cell phone numerous times every night to make sure I set it correctly (4:30am to get to the gym - once I set it wrong, missed the alarm and it totally fucked me up)

I have serious addictions to interdental stimulators and dental floss. I have floss everywhere in my house, my car and my desk at work. Oh, also in my purse LOL The minute Im finished eating, Im right at it cleaning my teeth.

"A lot of healthy people can identify with some of the symptoms of OCD, such as checking the stove several times before leaving the house. But for people with OCD, such activities consume at least an hour a day, are very distressing, and interfere with daily life."

Obsessive-compulsive disorder, or OCD, involves anxious thoughts or rituals you feel you can't control. If you have OCD, you may be plagued by persistent, unwelcome thoughts or images, or by the urgent need to engage in certain rituals.

I fucking count constantly, whether it's steps or, signs, or anything. I have to let my turn signal flash exactly five times to change lanes more or less and I get upset by it. I must put my right shoe on before the left(opposite of you) I must check my door two times after locking it, etc...... The one that gets me is I have to fix things that are out of place, I was just walking down a hallway at work and noticed that a picture was crooked, I stopped mid-stride and mid-sentence to fix it as it became the only thing I could focus on.

Awwwww, we share the same obsession. After a couple of microbiology classes and your way of life will change forever.

you wash your hands so much because you're fucking filthy. and anyone who bodybuilds has got a mental issue, being that compulsive about your physical appearance. lmao @ you mirror fags.

lmao @ mirror fags...

PDaddy, just wait until your kid's christens you. You either develop the constant hand washing habit or just say fuck it and die from bird flu.

I'm dying fro bird flu. Not surprisingly, no one eats when I cook.

Here are my OCD habits in a timeline, starting at age 12 untill, now at age 19:

- A kid spit in my chair once, I checked my chair everytime after that for years.
- I would wash my hands all the time.
- I would use a new towel every time I showered.
- I would take 6+ showers a day.
- I would clean my bathroom every day.
- Every single hair would have to be off of my bed before I could lie in it.
- I would have to wipe my ass so much.
- I wouldn't let anyone in my room because they would contaminate it.

Now, my OCD is more like this:
- I still wash my hands all the time.
- I still make sure no hair is on my bed before I lie in it.
- I obsess about what I put into my body.
- I obsess about training in the gym.
- I obsess about my grades.
- I clean my computer keyboard, mouse and table every day.
- I got to bed at an early time.

I've learned to use my OCD on things that can benefit me somehow. But too much is never a good thing.

oh lol something else silly. How about hitting the "lock" button on the keyless entry thingy for the car after getting out. i hit the lock button inside the car, then I get out, then as Im walking away, I hit LOCK about 3-4 times just to be sure LOL

I made lunch yesterday since I was home sick, I must have washed my hands five times after I started making lunch and before I ate it, not including washing before starting food prep.

EJE- yeah many OCD traits develop from careful things like germ avoidance, it's when it becomes uncontrolable and life altering that it steps into the realm of OCD. I know if I don't do certain things a certain way I get full blown anxiety attacks.

Yep the anxiety can be overwhelming at times......or can turn outward onto others....

Male body obsession OCD is called the "Adonis Complex" there is a clinic in Mass General Hospital, my brother had to go there, it is the equivalent of anorexia for women.

Wow, just...wow. Honestly I have none of the symptoms or obsessions mentioned here, and when I think about it I'm not really obsessive about anything.

Probably the closest thing I have is when it comes to money, I like to save and save and spend very little unless I can pay for it cash. If I have to finance it then I make sure to pay it off ASAP. I'm not sure if that qualifies as compulsive, but it's the closest thing I can think of.

I guess I'm just .... normal? :worried:

If I'm going through more stress than usual I tend to start alighning things around me at 90 degree angles.

Pens, calculators whatever. Usually "and now" it just doesn't matter.

On a side note, I have started using different hypnotic tracks to go to sleep.

I get to sleep faster than looking at the ceiling for an hour. But, the first time I used my favorite one I was walking through the living room and 13 ghost was on.

I now get this mental image whenever that track starts

i have a few compulsive behaviors but i think they are more along the lines of nervous disorders..
