I'm a little confused in regards to post secondary education in the US. Can someone explain the difference between community college, and college/university?

Here in Canada college is a diploma institution, whereas university is for undergrad, graduate studies.

community college is just a small 2 year college thats local to a particular area, from there u would move on to a larger university...similair to what u said.

Community College- 2 year / associates degree w/ ability to transfer credits to university

University- 4 year / bachelors degree / wide acceptance

i never tried to call my community college just "college." I would usually qualify it w/"community" or just say "southwestern" cuz everyone around here knows what shitty community college that is...

mine was Nassau Community College. Its just Nassau over here, no college part in when saying it.

Now I'm at St.Johns. Its not a bad deal, I would have never gotten into SJU right after HS.

BTW- Canadians are Silly:)

I go SJU which campus?

BTW, University and College aren't the same thing.

Colleges tend to be smaller, with smaller class sizes and students receiving more personal attention from faculty.
Universities offer Masters and Doctorate degrees-requiring completion of the Bachelors degree first.
Universities tend to be larger, with faculty time and attention divided between research and teaching.
