Comments of Cosmology

I am noob when it comes to physics and cosmology. But i have always been curious. Always eager to learn more whenever i have had an oppurtunity.

Now here are some comments. I am hoping that you would elaborate on what i understand so far.

I was watching this TV program that concluded that we are screwed nomatter what. We are going down. No matter how advanced and how intelligent we as humans evolve. This is why.

The age of stars is coming to an end. All the stars are eventually going to die. And our galaxy is on a collision course with Andromeda. Eventually the two super massive blackholes, from respective galaxies, will merge and eat everything up. But even this is not the end.

It was also describing how the new blackhole made up of andromeda and the milky way will be heading towards a region in space which is a lot dense in matter. And then all these blackholes will merge as well.

The most advanced species and civilizations will be living around dying stars, but even they will eventually run out of fuel. We have absolutely no chance. We are screwed! Maybe in a billion years, but we are screwed.

ok last time i checked the universe was expanding! What is happening here?

Now what happens to these black holes. I know that according to Mr. Hawking, even blackholes eventually dissappear, because of radiation. But exactly what do they mean by dissappear?

Is the universe getting recycled? Or is it just an infinite time line?

WHAT ARE WE GOING TO DO?

ok this sucks...

And i thought it was a great idea to post a thread considering cosmology in a fitness website. Silly me!

First of all almost all of our "definitions" of space are theories. I some cases very well founded mathmatical ones but in others just pure conjecture!
Second, no species on earth has lasted more than a few million years at most so what does it matter if the planet is here or not?
Third, how do you know we are the most advanced species? Or that there are not civilizations thriving in ultra-dense matter? We don't even have a firm grip on what is needed to sustain life on our own planet! Until a few years ago a life form such as the methane tube worm would have been considered impossible, as would crabs living in water 10 times as hot as what we cook them in!

Humanity will continue to evolve technologically as a species and we will overcome the apparent impending doom of our universe. We will explore and seed the stars and deep space and ultimately ensure the survival of our species. That is, if the U.S. doesn't get into a nuclear pissing match with the Koreans and we all blow each other to hell first.
