Coming off ephedrine

Ok im halfway through my ECA course of tablets and the results are very pleasing, stubborn fat is totally going and i love the energy I have but I am worried about a few things

1. the side effects, ok as long as u take it how it says and stuff but this stuff fucks with your CNS right?

2. I think i'm getting dependat on ECA for my workouts

so as soon as my course is over im gonna stop but i had a few questions. I've heard of ppl getting on Ephedrine withdrawl symptoms.. are these bad or just a myth and also will the stubborn fat come back if i stop ECA?

thanks

The biggest side effects I've had when coming off are a feeling of lethargy for a few days, and some headaches (caffeine withdrawl I think). I usually like to pop alot of Tyrrosine when coming off.

And you'll only put the fat back on if you allow it (i.e. start eating crappy again and not exercising).

Yes, I get nasty headaches and feel very lethargic lifting. Generally though, I come off E/C to begin bulking....so the extra carbs take care of that tired feeling.

For me - this lifestyle is all about cycles - and when I bulk I don't worry about adding back some fat - because I know that muscle is coming with it - and that it will make me that much leaner the next time I diet/cut.

You could also try another stack (N/Y/C? Thermorexin?)...

Taken from an OLD thread, I saved it for reference when I was cycling off of it. :)

If by "at once every day" you mean concurrently without adverse reactions, yes. I'll break the various supplements down for you:

Siberian Ginseng supports the adrenals. It also gives you a mild buzz if you're not used to it, but not in a speedy way, just in a general well-being kind of way. You can either take it when you're cycling off the ergogenics, or do as I do and take it while you're on ECA/NYC to extend the period you can take the drugs without adrenal bombing.

L-Tyrosine and L-Phenylalanine are amino acids that are the precursors to epinephrine (also called adrenaline), nor-epinephrine (also called nor-adrenaline), and dopamine, the holy trinity of catecholamines. L-Tyrosine is also great for thyroid support and deepening a natural tan. Constant administration of uppers (as well as hypocaloric states in general) depletes your natural pool of catecholamines, ergo the depression you're experiencing. HDT used to make an awesome Tyrosine/Phenylalanine/DMAE/B complex/etc cocktail, but I'll be damned if I can remember what it was. I'll do some looking on the web later and post a followup if I can find it.

...Oh, and if you're prone to anxiety attacks - as I found that I am - too much Tyrosine too often will induce them, so it's best to start with small doses - 1 gram once a day on an empty stomach for example - and work your way up to assess your tolerance.

5HTP, short for 5-hydroxy-tryptophan, is the precursor to yet another neurotransmitter, serotonin, which is involved in mood, sleep, and appetite regulation. Symptoms of a serotonin deficiency are depression, anxiety, trouble sleeping, and carb cravings. After waxing ecstatic about it to my mother for years, she finally started taking it, and she's much happier and more laid back for it. You can read more about it at http://www.5-htp.net/

Ideally you'd have the L-Tyrosine, L-Phenylalanine, and Ginseng in the morning, because these are somewhat stimulating, then take the 5-HTP nearer to bedtime. The names they're sold under are exactly what they are, and you can buy them online or at most health food stores. I use Twinlab Tyrosine, Solaray and/or Nature's Herbs Siberian Ginseng, and Jarrow 5-HTP. There are plenty of other worthy brands, these are just the ones I buy.

All told, you could probably get by with taking only one at first, and if the depression didn't abate in a week or two, step up your supplementation a notch with the others.

Comments and corrections are welcome.

Wow, I'd completely forgotten that I wrote that. Nice to see that it helped some people.

First post but been reading for a while. Great tips, info and ideas from everyone. Staying on the ephedra wagon, do any of you stack it for much longer than recommended? For example, creatine can be 3 months on, one off, etc., but can ephedra become too harmful on your body with prolonged use? I am guilty of this and am worried it's time to shut it down for a while.

Thanks in advance.

FOlks have told me that it can cause some damage in regards to prolonged use, with some cases of folks severely 'burning out' their adrenal glands and screwing up their thyroid.

anyone else know anything about long term ephedra use?

With regard to longterm ephedra/ephedrine use, I've been taking it off and on for about 7 years, and my adrenals are fine. I have no problems experiencing pleasure or working out without it. The key is to find the smallest dose possible that still gives you the desired effect (mine is 12.5mg), and cycle it before you build up a tolerance.
