Columbus the First Immigrant

Hail to Columbus -- The First Immigrant

by Victor Gerhard

Just in time for our celebration of Columbus Day this October 8th, a startling reinterpretation of the life of Christopher Columbus has emerged in historical circles. Because of newly uncovered information concerning his groundbreaking efforts to champion the rights of new Americans, Columbus may deserve the title "Father of Diversity."

It may be hard to believe today, but before 1492 the entire Western Hemisphere was greedily monopolized by only one federally approved ethnic group, the 'Native-Americans.'

It was Columbus who met this challenge to diversity head on and fought to create a multi-cultural society in the Americas. He knew it would be a dangerous undertaking but he was determined to advance the cause of the unrepresented Europeans. A true liberal, he also realized the prejudiced Native-Americans would themselves greatly benefit from living in a diverse society. Once they were properly educated, Native-Americans could enjoy the many things immigrants had to offer.

It was a difficult task. European-Americans were at first confined to a few small islands in the Caribbean, and the Establishment -- controlled by xenophobic, nativist bigots -- still continued to prevent the immigrants' participation in the local political process. Indeed, for hundreds of years Native-Americans refused to allow people of non-color to run for Tribal Chief.

Columbus realized the necessary radical changes required the full participation of the government -- the Spanish Government to be precise. Upon hearing of the oppression suffered by immigrants, Spain instituted sweeping reforms designed to protect the rights of European-American minorities. With the passage of the historic Immigrants' Rights Act of 1505 it became necessary to create an agency to ensure compliance with the new laws. Thus were born the "Conquistadors," forerunners of the modern FBI.

And not a moment too soon, because unfortunately some of the Natives were attempting to "roll back the clock" by resisting their immersion in the Melting Pot. This led to regrettable Waco-like incidents, brought on by the anti-democratic acts of Native-American-Firsters opposing the laws of the central government. Some of these live-off-the-land, survivalist types even went so far as to claim the government had no authority over them!

For hundreds of years, European-Americans remained a small percentage of the population of the Americas. Much of the Hemisphere continued to consist of exclusive, no-immigrants-allowed neighborhoods. Refusing to integrate, many of the Natives engaged in "red flight" out of areas occupied by immigrants.

Through the sacrifices of civil rights pioneers such as Davy Crockett, Kit Carson and the martyred George Custer (the Rosa Parks of the 1870s), European-Americans made great strides in society and won many new opportunities. But it all started with Columbus.

(I couldn't help myself, this one was too good to not post - Hengst))

We are all of one Earth. We are all brothers.

Except the fucking Mexicans - get out!

Don't forget the Dutch. They're just nasty.

I love it. :)

1/3 of columbus's crew = Jews.

Those damn Jews turn up everywhere.

I'm saving that dude, Karma your way for posting it.

Also, I think a quote from a 32 year old Warren Buffet is appropriate.

I have it from unreliable sources that the cost of the voyage Isabella originally underwrote for Columbus was approximately $30,000. This has been considered at least a moderately successful utilization of venture capital. Without attempting to evaluate the psychic income derived from finding a new hemisphere, it must be pointed out that....the whole deal was not exactly another IBM. Figured roughly, the $30,000 invested at 4% compounded annually would have amounted to something like $2,000,000,000,000 (two trillion).

Is Lief garret still a balding middle aged Heroin Junky? That would have been cool if could see a picture of his future self in the 70's. He might have just killed himself.

He was some TigerBeat teen hunk or something.
Not sure if he was into music or TV shows though.

I just like his name.

CNN has been running a scrolling news bar all week end saying - "Pres. Hugo Chavez of Venesuala is calling for no one to celebrate Columbus Day because the Spanish were worse than Hitler"

another major figure of western society/culture trashed just because he's from europe. Third worlders will not be satisfied until our western, first world civilization is destroyed.

Then they can go back to living third worldish again: dying of easily treated infections, praying to fire, eating each other, and generally acting like cavemen.

It's Columbus Day. I am in Columbus GA. Kinda cool.

FYI the people here when Columbus arrived were not typically dying from easily treated infections (Spain introduced that) however, were still living in socieities which engaged in routine human sacrifice, and they had not mastered writing.

They, as much of Europe, were dying of what we easily treat today. Spain simply introduced a foreign organism that they had not developed immunity too.

I was not implying that Spain brought with it cures of ailments, but that Western civilization brought with it a respect for the natural sciences and not the mysticism that still permeates many non-Western societies. Those who hate Western society never mention the fact that Western civilization has benefited the world with its philosophies, instead they try to present this pie-in-the-sky dream that the world would not need industry, medicine, laws, etc. if not for the "greedy" colonialism of the West. They fantasize about a great agrarian society that never existed.

Tell that to the indiginous people of Rain Forests etc that have been using natural medicines to treat ailments that us westerns don't have a clue about..

Yea, they may die of appendicitis or infection, but so do we.
And they likely have a cure for things as well that we don't have..

Tell that to the indigenous people who have very short lifespans compared to Western society.

Western society has been using pharmacognosy (natural products) since medicine began, we simply alter natural products to improve and patent. Aspirin is modified salicylate, a naturally occuring compound. Artemisin has been modified for malaria treatment, it is a naturally occuring compound. We are constantly seeking new and improved ways to fight disease. This cannot be said of primitive cultures that rely soley on nature and not science.

Men die. All men die. Now look at the rates that Westerners die from these diseases and that of other countries. Even some cancers are an artifact of longevity. Many cultures never have certain cancers because they don't live long enough to see them (certain cancers occur later in life).

They may have cures for certain ailments. This does not mean that they have benefited their lives over all. Having the cure for leukemia is nice, but if your culture has a short lifespan due to other diseases, what is the benefit over all?

Bump for Columbus Day!!! Thank God this is day that honors an Italian. Had it been an Anglo Germanic holiday, the "pc" police would have already abolished it.

I aghree with you. Some reading suggestions if you have a chance:

"Guns Germs and Steel" by Jared Diamond? A little verbose but a reasonable accounting of the growth of societies as well as the Spanish conquest of the "New World"

If you want the authoritative book on Spanish treatment of South Americans, read "Cocaine: The Unauthorized Biogrpahy". The book is fair about Spanish brutailty and backwardnessof the locals.

Guns, Germs, and Steel is a so-so read, but Diamond plays around on a lot of issues. He certainly doesn't take into account the affect that environment has on phenotypes over many generations.

The first immigrants crossed the Asian-North American land bridge and were the ancestors of the native peoples Columbus "discovered."

There were MANY people who came before Columbus. There's plenty of proof of it -- but for some reason society is too already fashioned with the novel idea of Columbus sailing the great high seas, landing and seeing the Indians. They grew up with this in history class and it's now INGRAINED in their heads forever.

Actually the first people's, were an advanced civilization of Talking Apes. I know cuz i watched a documentary about it once. Starred Charlton Heston. Great movie.

true that

watch the history channel bros......u will learn some good shit

Yes, people cae before the Europeans. And contributed roughly zilch.

Should we celebrate people walking across and land bridge?

or rightly honor those who came here and started the practice that led to the founding of American by other colonizers?

you are damn right man...spanish did a very bad colonization in South America. Spanish went there only looking for gold, without any kind of organization or expansion. Some of them unfortunatelly mixed with indians and gave up a bad race...now that is called the "pueblo". A kind of people that tend to primitive system but at the same time tend to a civilized system. That's why they do EVERYTHING bad. From writing a simple law, to build a simple parking lot. Now of course they HATE Spanish and Americans. For them we are assasins.
