I just got this offer from American Express to join Columbia House DVD and get 5 DVDs for a total of $10 as long as I buy 4 more at $20 in the next two years. I remember hearing about Columbia House and their cassette/CD stuff when I was younger and heard that complying with their requests and quitting the program after meeting them was a big hassle/disaster. Anybody out there have any horror stories about Columbia House, or should I go on and get myself some cheap DVDs?

Thanks,

Don't do it! I had to battle with them in order to get out of their club. You need to really keep track of what you bought at the full price...they trick you in to getting lower priced cd's, dvd's etc., that don't count toward your total purchases....it's a never ending loop...

just my two cents...

We have dealt with Columbia House off and on over the last several years and have not had any problems other than the occassional wrong CD/DVD sent. The thing you have to understand is you have to pay shipping on the products and it's usually like $4.95(or in that range) per CD/DVD. That's the catch! Order 10 of them for a penny or whatever the offer is and pay the shipping. $49.50! We still do it but we are selective as to what offer we choose. I hope this helps.
