college costs

what are college costs in your area?

i don't understand people who complain about high college costs. where i live, if you live at home you can attend community college for $108 a credit hour. which comes out to $15,000 over the course of 4 years ($3000 added for miscellaneous expenses. books, labs, etc), or $3,750 a year. $312 a month is the cost of a small auto loan.

if you attend an out of state, private university & pay room & board, i can understand talking about the high price of college. that would probably be about $10,000 a year or so.

Ok, I just finsihed paying tuition...so I can relate.

I'm an undergrad, and each of my classes costs $570 CDN. Granted, I'm attending one of the more expensive universities in Canada....

I pay about $6200/year. That's for 10 classes, books, and all the bullshit fees. Tack in rent, food, etc...and I need about double that.

Now if only my student loan comes through.... :D

It's not like attending Yale or someplace which tuition is $30,000/year, but when you have no job and your parents arn't rich...it can be a bit tough at times.

I think the government should pay for the first year of university. Might not be practical, but it would sure help.

10K canadianis roughly 6K american. Canadian universities vary in how they charge students. Some go by credit hour, some by class. Than again, at some institutions one class = one credit hour, and at others one class = 2 or 3 credit hours. It's all fucked up...there's no real system in place.

My parents are failry well off as well, but to quote Soul Man: "They give student loans to people who's pareants are poor, not people who's parents are assholes". :D
