Do you take coffee(s) before working out ?
If so, does it help ?

i drink pure black coffee with 1sugar free packet, essentially i aint a morning person to hit the gym but the caffine wakes me up but not enough caffine to be TROW IRON AROUND

The days i have to go to work i have to wake up at 5am. I wont drink coffee in the morning b/c i work in E.R. and it's pretty crazy there anyway, you don't need it. But before i leave i take a cup of coffee w/ me and sip on the way home so i can have some energy before hitting the weights. If not i'll fall asleep in the gym and pick up the little weights. It helps me a lot just don't use it so frequently that you get used to it and its effects diminish.

I drink a lot of caffeine and am trying to cut back, But One cup of Starbucks before the gym than a ripped force during my workout will make me see stars.

Riskybiz said it - you have to watch how often you use coffee as an energy "booster" because eventually you'll need more and more to get the same effect....

do u have milk in your starbucks? is that counterproductive to your workout - if your cutting that is?!

Rez i make my own coffee at home:) i have a protein shake before lifting..............Starbucks=EXPENSIVE :(

I dont comprehend how coffee can even give you guys a boost? At some points ECA stacks begin to not affect me. What kind of damn coffee are you guys drinkin???!!?!??

Caffeine can provide mental awareness which can greatly assist in lifting. I guess it's similar to blasting some music in your car on the way to your gym... kinda pumps you up.

ok..to get this sorted..
u have milk in your coffee and shake before a w/out? is that a good choice of carbs to have before training...

milk + coffee =

it is hard to digest and you may feel bloated

coffee is one thing that I will never eliminate from my diet. Ever sinse I have strted to drink coffee 4 years ago I have found myself being more alert and focused and leaner as well. There have also been studies made that indicated that black coffee can raise your IQ by as much as 20 points and that the worlds smartest and most succesfull people are heavy coffee drinkers. Written in forbes magazine .

Yeah but show us one guy in Forbes who looks like he even tries to work out..ok apart from Anthony Robbins ;)

that's a good point you have there doggmeister. But the funny thing is that all the succesfull people talk about how exercising is part of their life and how you cannot be fully succesfull without your daily workout, but they all look like out of shape people to me. It looks like they practice what they preach. As far as tony robbins goes, did you know that he juices ??This is not a joke i'm serious I go to his seminars all the time and he says it. He believes that when you are past the age of 40 steroids can make you live a more healthy and longer life and actually reccomends for people past the age of 40 to have testesterone and growth hormone therapy on a regular basis to improve their lives. That explains why he is so motivating and enthousiastic all the time. That's the testesterone rush and we all know how test makes you motivated and confident as hell :D
