Clomid for female AAS users

Realgains

New member
Does anyone really know for a fact that clomid will not work for a female post cycle....after all it works by blocking estrogen receptors at the hypothalamus and pituitary in men, both of which would be inhibited in females with steroid use.

I have asked this on the ladies board but I would like to hear from fella's"in the know"

Well, there are quite a few studies out there along the lines of this one:

Fertil Steril 1982 Feb;37(2):168-74

Clinical and laboratory predictors of clomiphene response.

Lobo RA, Gysler M, March CM, Goebelsmann U, Mishell DR Jr.

A prospective study was carried out on 158 anovulatory women for the purpose of finding parameters that might predict the clomiphene dose at which ovulation would occur. Both body weight and obesity were positively correlated with the dose required to achieve ovulation (P less than 0.05). Once ovulation occurred, obesity did not affect the ability to conceive. Fifty-eight women who ovulated with various doses of clomiphene, including six women who failed to ovulate, had hormonal measurements performed prior to treatment. Compared with normally ovulating controls, serum luteinizing hormone (LH), the ratio of LH to follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH), serum androgens, unbound testosterone, and unbound estradiol were elevated and sex hormone binding globulin-binding capacity (SHBG-BC) significantly lower in women receiving clomiphene. Although the ovulatory dose of clomiphene was positively correlated with both weight and obesity, neither weight nor any laboratory parameter could accurately predict the clomiphene response.

This is quite promising and thanks for the abstract....but I have yet to hear of females using clomid post cycle and I don't know why this would be. Surely a few weeks of clomid use would do no harm and probably help recovery of her natural estrogen and testosterone yet I am no endochrinologist.
Does anyone know if top competitors at the national level, or the pro's, use clomid?

Good question.I haven't seen it on many females recovery regimens, but then in all honesty,I haven't worked with females in the pharmacological department either. It's prescribed for fertility in females,so it's obviously optimizing the hormonal environment for the female.I don't see any problem with implementing it as part of the recovery phase,it should be helpful.

So you had better strap it on, buddy.

I thougt testo was ONLY produced by testicals and the testo females have is due to the convert from extrogen, just like testo aromatise to estrogen?? clomid works makes the hypotalamus to send signal to the testicals (which females doesn't have) to produce more testo. BUT it allso works as an anti-e so the estro doesn't connect to the ER so more estro is circulating and can convert inte testo.. hehe how about that theory? :mix:

Sorry bro your theory is flawed....but good try.

The ovaries and adrenal glands in females produce some testosterone.
Also Clomid works simply by blocking estrogen receptors at the hypothalamus and pituitary and thus this stimulates GnRH release from the hypothalamus and LH from the pituitary. Clomid doesn't directly stimulate the testes to release testosterone.

You've got it backward. Women's ovaries produce estrogens from the aromatization of androgenic precursors (testosterone & androstenedione).

I ask the same question over a year ago on the womens board nad no women would answer, my wife wanted to know but she keeps most of her gains anyway.

Actually its my wife that really wants to know too. Come to think of it I think females keep more of there gains than men do.
I wish we had more insight into clomid use for female AAS users though....nobody on the ladies board has used it yet.
