Can citric acid knock me out of ketosis. Has anyone experienced this ? And are there any supps that will quickly help me jump back into ketosis like ala or something ?

If you eat enough foods containing Citric Acid, you "may"
re-start your bodies Krebs Cycle, which is glucose based,
and therefore kick you out of Ketosis.

ALA at 1200mg will bring you back in.

beautiful i guess Crytal light is out now. Karma for fonz. another thing im wondering is if it takes about 3 or 4 days to get into ketosis why carb up so soon like weekends. Shouldnt i try to hold out for about 6 days of ketosis. so 6 days plus the 3 of waiting for ketosis is carb reload at about 10 days. Any thoughts.

The body can only store a two-day supply of glucose in the form of glycogen, so after two days of consuming no more than 20 grams of carbohydrates, most people go into lipolysis/ketosis.

sure took longer than that for me. although i went by the ketostix which is not so accurate. Its ketones in the blood that we want. so when exactly does it hit the urine when too much in the blood ? anyone Karma for 2 advanced.

the sticks aren't accurate for the most part, they will tell you when you are there, but as long as they turn color (purple/pink i think is what you want)

depends on
1)day
2)last exercise or if you exercised
3)when you ate last

Yes, some people get kicked out of Ketosis w/ citric acid but if you were using crystal light, it might be the "fake sugar" that is the major ingredient that was the culprit. Same goes for Glutamine, I've seen about a 20% problem rate w/ glutamine and ketosis, meaning 20% of people get kicked out of Ketosis after ingesting glutamine.

Again, if your body is not in a Ketonic state (assuming it's due to simple citric acid or glutamine) the most feasible solution is either some cardio and weights, or some insulin. Overall, you should be able to get back into Ketosis VERY quickly in such a case, I would guess 6 hours at the most (i'm overstating). For, if was not a "carb-up" that cause the shift, but a simple K-cycle problem as FONZ pointed out.

P.S. 1-2 I.U.'s of insulin will drop your right back in Ketosis
