I've been downing a half dozen eggs a day. Should I be concerned about the cholesterol. It's a cheap source of protein and I would hate to give them up.

I have not seen much evidence of dietary cholesterol increasing blood lipid cholesterol levels. Many studies I have seen with people on high cholesterol/reduced saturated fat diets actually lowered their cholesterol. Peace

Cholesterol and Sat. fat havent been clearly linked to any health ailments for certain. Enviromental factors play a big role in the development of many health probs and its easy to blame it on parts of the diet that are consistant.

I agree with the cholesterol part, but saturated fat has been linked to many ailments, atherosclerosis for example.

That's my understanding too:

dietary cholesterol does not raise serum cholesterol
dietary saturated fat *does* raise serum cholesterol

now what type of fat is in egg yolks?

So it's ok to eat a few whole eggs daily rather then mostly egg whites? Is there any nutritional benefit to egg yolks? Or are egg whites the only reason for eating eggs?

Egg Yolks have "Good Cholesterol" as well as Lecithin and Choline which are essential for Brain Function. Im sure there are more reasons to eat them also, I just eat the whites myself.

So if it's good, why are you only eating whites?
