Chocolate Protein Shake

I had the worst experience today. I drank my first protein shake, and it was disgusting... Please give me some sort of advice on brands, receipes, advice, and flavors that you all enjoy. Thanks for all your help!
Stephanie :verygood:

Rooks should use a blender, skim or 1% milk, add some splenda or davichii sugar free syrups.............maybe try andding some oats or cottage cheese into the blender to thicken it up, but don't be afraid to sweeten it up with some splenda........also, anpb goes a long way to making it tollerable.........

Soon enough, you'll be able to use whey, h20 and a shaker and just put it down.......

Get the Whey stuff from costco. Mix with skim milk. It will taste just like chocolate milk. Plus, it is very cheep. Avoid the Vanilla.

I drink Fat Free Milk, could that make a difference? The shake I drank was Bioflex Whey Protein chocolate shake with fat free milk and it was gross. I didn't know how to make the actual shake, How much ice, powder, and splenda to use. Thanks for your help both of you!

I really like the Chocolate Mint 100% Whey Protein by Optimum Nutrition. http://www.bulknutrition.com/?products_id=384 Before I tried it someone told me that it reminded them of the Thin Mint Girl Scout Cookies... and it does! Very yummy :) And Cheap, too.

Ps... I don't recommend the Cookies and Cream flavor!

Mandy :)

Hey Mandy!
Thanks! I am at Fort Lewis, I saw you are in Washington State also. Is it high in carbs and sugar? I am trying to lose 50 pounds and need to add another meal to my diet, so that is why I am doing the protein shake thing. How do you mix it, with water or milk? Thanks again,
Stephanie

Oh, and I usually just mix it with 1 cup of water (per scoop, which I typically only use one at a time). I will use 1/2c FF Milk with 1/2c water occasionally ;). It's pretty sweet on it's own, and I don't use an additional sweetener, but a friend of mine that I made one for only likes it with a packet of splenda mixed in :) Which is perfectly fine.

My best friend Rachel (asoldiersheart) is from the Tri-cities! I will order it today, sounds like the perfect mix for me, and I cannot believe it tastes good with water! Thanks for all of your help!

It's funny how some folks like certain shakes, and others despise them.

I know alot of folks think mine tastes like ass, but I could eat it all day (ass too...lol!). Some of the others that folks have suggested and said were the best tasting shake, I thought tasted like sweat off a monkey's ass boiled over smoking dog turds.

Just shop around, you'll find one that suits your needs in terms of taste and nutrients provided. There's only like a bazillion different brands out there. Keep at it.

I have tried like fifty different kinds and they all make me sick. I just lift that cup up, chug and get it over with! It's all about the protein!

You can waste your money trying all different kinds of protein powder hoping to find the one that tastes just like a chocolate milk shake... but it's not gonna happen. Muscle Milk comes pretty damn close, but it sounds like you're looking for a low-fat, low-carb shake.

My advice: suck it up and chug it down. Sweetener will make it more tolerable, but you're just gonna have to get used to the taste of it.

I think I've lost all of my taste buds. It's amazing the things I throw in a blender these days! My family practically vomits at the sight :p

There has to be a way to make then better. I am trying to figure out how to mix them as a shake, in the blender, and I need recipes. How much ice, Splenda protein shake, fruit, etc. Any suggestions?
Thanks again for all your help!
Stephanie

As far as how much ice, it depends on how many scoops of protein you're using, how thick you like your shake, etc... There isn't a magic amount :) When I use one scoop(w/ 8oz liquid--- either milk or water), I put in about 4-5 cubes (probably 3/4c or so)... 1 packet of splenda per shake should be plenty... Fruit serving--- probably 1/2 a banana. Peanut butter---1 tbsp.

That actually sounds really good. I think for me it will be finding the right concoction. I will try different varieties. I hate having to spend alot of money though trying to find the right one for me. Thanks for your help!
Stephanie

Youll find the right mix dude, it just takes time. I mean my girlfriend had trouble putting down shakes too....lol.......sack up........pretty soon you'll be on Bidgo's recipe of tuna and apple juice shakes..........mmmmmmmmmmmm

Try different brands... different strokes for different folks as they say.

Also, I like it better with just skim milk, no ice. (if you use ice or water make sure it is filtered or you get to taste all the yummy chemicals from the ice and water, which seems accentuated by the powder for some reason).

Thanks for the info!

Stephanie -- if you have a store that sells the protein powder, sometimes they will give out free samples....ask for some....

I like Optimum Nutrition's Double Rich Chocolate. I blend with ice, skim milk or Carb Countdown milk, water & sometimes coffee......

If you drink coffee freeze the leftovers in an ice cube tray & use 2 cubes of that + 2 cubes of plain ice, 1/2 cup water 1/2 cup milk 1 scoop PP & blend -- Cafe Mocha
