Chins in 5x5

Hi,

I'm just kicking off my DF 5x5 and am doing chins and just wanted to know whether they run along the same principle as the rest of the 5x5. I.E. do I need to do weighted chins and increase the weught or can i just increase the amount of body weighted chins?

the reason i ask is because I do not have the belt to hold the weights and tried holding a barbell between my feet and failed misrably!!

I guess if you are doing 5 sets of 8 it's OK but 5 sets of 15reps is a different matter.

I hold up to a 20kg DUMBELL between my thighs just above my knees.

I'll try it with a very light one under tight control.

the chin bar has a seat which I fold out of the way so it restructs the thigh room a little. I'll give it a go though

Be careful about adding too much weight too quickly - I ended up with my back feeling like it was being pulled apart, and it took A LONG time to recover (about 18 months!). Graduation.

Oh, one more thing...

In the past, I have taken a regular weight belt and a dumbbell and looped the weight belt around the dumbbell, placing the dumbbell between the belt and my body. I'll admit it's slightly uncomfortable, as the bottom portion of the dumbbell will bring a whole new meaning to "balls of steel". Also, you better be secure enough that you don't care about what other people think; it looks funny.

But it gets the damn job done, and that is the point.

Could be both painful and funny!
