Chemical Peels?

anyone know much about these? i was looking to maybe get one to get rid of some minor acne scaring and blotchiness on my face. any tips?

I was reading up on these. From what I understand a lasic dermabrasion is the best, but the most effective. You will be out of work about 2 weeks. Chemical peels are less money than the laser surgery, but provide lesser results. You are out about one week. For both surgeries you will fully recover within 8 weeks and redness should subside.

You may want to look into microdermabrasion. This is an outpatient service that could work well for you. It takes about 30 minutes and the redness goes away within a couple of hours. I believe you need to go a few times. If you are young and your skin still isn't that bad this may be you best option because it is cost effective, but furthermore it does not require you to skip work etc for a week or two.

Best bet is go get a free consultation and talk to a couple of places. Hope this helps...

The people I know that had microdermabrasion for acne scars were not that impressed with the results. Also a dermatologist I know who does it said its not really very effective and he is going to stop doing it. The real heavy duty dermabrasion is your best bet, but I've heard it is kind of brutal...long recovery. Laser tx could be a good option.

high quality products can produce the similar results, the stuff im refering to is from switzerland, you can buy it from certain laser consultants or spas, it's helped my skin better than anything. if your trying to get rid of redness none of the laser treatments will work, it only help with 'pits' in the skin. check out physiodermie, do a search on google or something to locate the site i cant remember it off hand, you might want to consider trying those products first, i swear by them, the best investment i ever made!

i have a had a few checm peels cuz of acne and they work a litrtle bit to get rid of redness but not a whole look bro....for mircodermabrasion u need to go like 5 times

well tiger, that might be just what i'm looking for. my acne is not bad atall, but the redness it leaves behind takes a LONG time for me to get rid of naturally...

ask the derm first.....i never got red since i put on this gel they gave me all the time....u shouldnt be all red looking.....just ask plenty of questions to the derm....any thing just ask me i have had a few

If you go in for regular glyc. acid peels, mild skin discolorations will quickly fade. If you have pits, or visible acne scarring. I'd recommend going the drastic route. Go big or go home. I live near brad pitt and see him round town from tiem to time... I think he used to do dermabrasion and now just uses botox to flatten out his acne lines for films. You can't even see them really even w/o make up on.

i haven't got any pitted skin or anything. just old acne redness that is extremely slow to fade. would glycolic acid peels be a good idea?

YES. Go to a dermo and ask if you would be a good candidate, as with most chemical peels, some people look red for awhile after a glyc acid peel, so get a recommendation from the dermo. Dermo's are always cheaper than day spas cuz u can get insurance to cover them :D

thanks a ton. last question, i promise. how long will i be red after that, and is there anything that can get rid o' the redness!?!? i don't want to look like a tomato sitting in a lecture hall full of chicks.

Generally 2-3 days of slight redness for me after a glyc acid peel. Some people, however, are like lobsters for a good week. Make sure you get it done at a reputable institute/salon.
