Chefs / peeps who cook....question

I have a recipe that calls for a food processor in order to make vanilla sugar (using sugar and vanilla beans). Can I use a blender instead?

I assume no, but I don't have no stinking food processor.

of corce you can.explane the recepy to me and what the vinla shuger is going to be used fore and ill tell you how to do it.
 
just use the blender - it's not that big of a deal - you don't need any more instructions than you have.
 
You're making vanilla flavored regular sugar?? Just slice the vanilla bean in half (the whole pod) & push it down into a container of the sugar (granulated) & just let it sit for a while.....

it's a ricotta cappucino dessert type thing.

it's really simple - just throw 1/2cup sugar into the processor along with vanilla bean seeds and run the machine.

then throw in ricotta and espresso powder and top with cocoa/cinnamon and broken biscotti.

it's easy, just wanted to make sure I could do it with a blender

Are you making what Giada had on Everyday Italian the other day?? :coffee:

Just mix it by hand.....won't be as smooth, but that should be ok....

I think the ricotta would be too thick for the blender......got a hand mixer??

I edited my post above......you could mix it by hand if you have a whisk & whip the hell out of it....
 
really? I think the blender could handle the ricotta - it's the sugar / bean thing that worried me. eh, I'll try it both ways and report back

Yeah, let me know........cuz I hate dragging out my food processor.....

Blender will work just fine you need to use smaller allotments than in a food processor since you have less mixing area to work with in a blender.

And no offense man, but if they made a bobble head doll of Giada they would actually have to make the head smaller.

Damnit man I was expecting more outrage from you, must be the pain meds, I'll bump this in a couple months.LOL No she is pretty cool and makes some great recipes, just has a big head(and boobies).

i'd use a magic bullet on rachael ray!!!! if her and that emeril guy got it on while cooking do you think as soon as he climaxed he'd yell BAAAAM? I think he would and the barefoot contessa and paula would be dyking it out
