I found this by accident and have no idea of its practicality, so I'm tossing it out here..

Lay on the leg curl machine. But instead of laying flat, prop yourself up on your hands...Lock out your elbows, so you are kind of arched somewhat.. Legs should be in normal position, except your upper body is now a little arched..Then try and curl with your legs.. I can't even do 10 lbs in this manner. I feel it may be hitting something in my lower back though instead of hamstrings directly.

i'm thinking that might not be good for the knees

but i'm not a doctor

and i didn't have subway

Why would that be bad for your knees? The legs don't move from the normal lying leg curl position?

I used to do them like that and found the contraction of my hams were so intense they would cramp up on me so I improvised and did them perched up on my elbows with the bottom of my forearms laying flat on the pad and holding the narrow end of the pad with my hands instead of of my hands flat on the pad with the arms locked. I found it to be a good middle ground and liked it much better than laying flat with my chest and abs on the pad.

i was thinking of where the flat pad ends while doing lying leg curls
for me its right at the knee
i was thinking that the arched position would drive me into the edge of the pad, which i don't think would feel too good, especially since it would be directly at the top of the kneecap

i was not trying to say it was a bad movement, just throwing out what poped into my head, i should have expanded it more
