Have to say, I agree with ya' on the GO BIG statement, but I can also see everyone else's point.Daisy_Girl said:I actually disagree slightly with some of the above posters.
I think a cheat meal NEEDS to be "all out". If you are strictly dieting, then your body needs the kick that a high-carb and even high-fat meal.
As for worrying about salt - I could care less about salt intake, esp in a cheat. Salt-related water rentention will go away in a few days and if you drink enough water on a day to day basis, the retention is minimal.
Dieting is hard - strict dieting - emotionally and physically. Sometimes you emotionally need a day/meal that allows you to eat whatever you want.
If you are strictly dieting and you have an ALL OUT meal once a week, or once every 10 days, that can only help you in my opinion.
BTW, MY idea of a cheat meal would be pizza and ice cream, pasta and cheesecake, or burgers and fries. If you are going to do it, do it big.![]()

That's is a REALLY great point and so true. Even with the few friends and coworkers of mine that I have following (or trying to follow) the same eating plan I am... we are at totally different phases in our eating.Sassy69 said:Just so you don't mindfuck yourself - remember that your cheat meal is just part of your scheduled meal plan - it isn't a free-for-all break from the diet that leads to a full day of unadulterated binging - but just like scheduled RECOVERY (i.e. over training = under recovery), it has its place in your diet.
What you will find over time tho is that your idea of a "cheat meal" goes from "what form of decadence can I fantasize about all week & then indulge in" to "I really like a fantastic steak & broccoli dinner w/ a glass of really good Shiraz" over time. Salt & alot of the stuff that you normally leave out of your diet is good, to throw in, but your desire to really load what "sounds good" starts to taper off over time.
